Sports Sunday for the Ages?
In Brief - This Sunday has all the makings of an entirely incredible sports day.
(Do not tell me any results. I am imposing an international sports blackout tonight.)
Here's what's on offer:
10 AM - Manchester United vs Manchester City - (or to borrow a phrase, The Forces of Darkness versus The Forces of Evil) any way you cut it, an exciting anticipated match.
12 PM - Houston Texas versus Tennessee Titans (or The Forces of Good versus The Faces of Methopotamia)
2 PM (And don't freaking tell me.) New Zealand All Blacks versus France (Les Blues) - (This doesn't need recasting, as its New Zealand versus France which is fairly obvious)
I'll be watching from the Richmond Arms (possibly in an All Blacks shirt and Texans hat) and arriving as early as I can.
And now some extra words. How are you today? Feeling fine? Nice weather we're having.

De Klassieker, one of the greatest soccer rivalries of all time as Ajax, the greatest soccer team in the history of this galaxy or any other, faces off against Feijenoord, the parasitic cockroaches from Rotterdam. Between the two teams, they have won 16 European/International trophies. It is an awesome rivalry.
Also, fuck Feijenoord. They occupy an equal space in the depths of my hatred with the BESFs.

Since I have no real feeling one way or the other
on the perfidious Fijenoord – go Ajax!
In unrelated news – as a kid one of my school soccer team coaches was a Dutchman who tried his very best to teach us American kids Total Football. This was good for me, as I ended up able to slot in anywhere from central defense to striker. So, I have an affection for the Dutch game. The coach was an Ajax fan as well.
Also – go All Blacks! (Not the game I was hoping for, but I’ll take the win at long last over France.)
Also Man City v Man U – wow.
And QPR defeats A Giant Bag of Money, I mean, Chelsea.

I'm surprised that the WC final was as close as it was.
And still saddened that Wales didn’t make it. But NZ were deserved winners, for sure.
It’s a shame that both Man U and Man City couldn’t lose by five goals when they play each other.
The Ajax-Feijenoord match was a huge disappointment: 1-1 with Ajax reduced to ten men in the second half. Ajax is underperforming these days.
At least the Texans won, which goes a long way towards erasing the stain of the Ajax game.

Yeah the ejection really marred the Wales game.
France put up a good battle though, and for a while I thought they could hit a drop kick to win it at the end.
But Chelsea lost too, that’s kind of funny.
Sometimes I watch Erdivisie (sp?) games on ESPN3Xbox (surprisingly good quality video) but I might give that one a miss.
I need to write up an article for a brash and daring plan for the USMNT, but I’m not sure what forum I might have for it.
