Andre Johnson Will Not Play Sunday Versus Jaguars
Per John McClain's article, Gary Kubiak held Andre Johnson out of practice today "to give him a head start on returning in the next game againt the Cleveland Browns at Reliant Stadium."
Personally, I think this is the right move. No need to rush 'Dre back, especially with an injury that's as prone to re-aggravation as a hamstring. Andre Johnson on the state of Andre Johnson after the jump.
"It's frustrating because I want to be on the field, it's still a day-to-day thing," Johnson said. "I still don't feel right, and I don't want to do anything to make it worse. I'm just going to keep working the way I have. I've made progress."

I agree
There is absolutely no reason for him to play this week or next week..

Yes this is a no brainer
Surely Kubiak hasn’t forgotten what happened when he needless played Arian on a cool night in SF. Let Dre heal. We’re so much better with him on the field, but a recurrence of this injury could spell the end of his season, and the Texans’ hope for any playoff success along with it.
It took the Astros 44 years to get to the Series, the Oilers-Texans are OVERDUE to get to the playoffs, much less the big big dance...Go Texans!!!!!

I'm also glad Andre gets to rest up some more before he plays
I’m so relieved that he’s being smart about this. And it’s good to hear that he’s made progress. Go Andre!

No to belittle Manning, Gabbert, or the Jags O-line
But I don’t see Manning as a big loss for this game considering Gabbert is still in the growing pains stage of his NFL career. As long as K-Jax stays off the field for the most part, we should be good. Our secondary is decent against the run at least.
It's official
Andre Johnson is “injury prone”. Now it may be time to start questioning his heart as well. With an important division game on the line most guys would take the shot and play through it. It has to make you wonder his level of dedication.

im with you...
sick and tired of his weak play, inability to get separation either…never liked #80…
2011 Season is the Reason!!!
He did quit in 2005
gets injured almost every season and takes about twice as long to get back than originally predicted. love the guy all you want but facts are facts….

Yeah, Bennprince makes a great point.
Remember last year when Johnson was injured with a high ankle sprain? He totally quit on the team. I mean sure he " played " . Sure he " made plays " and " won games " , fighting through a injury……. But he quit on us……. Because ….. Uuuhhhhhh…… He was injured and played through it.
Dump the bumm.

Let's not pretend
he’s perfect. he did miss several games. sure, he’s not a diva the likes of some of these other guys but he’s far from from perfect. This week’s game is really important and we could sure use him.

ummm are you for real
I really hope your joking dude, to even question how much heart andre has IS blasphemy, this guy is a future H.O.F. has every right to rest an extra week while we play a mediocre 2-5 jax team at home & that injury prone statement was equally idiotic, he has only missed 16 games in his career out of 135, its the NFL not flag football
by Texanation on Oct 28, 2011 10:56 PM CDT via mobile up reply actions
facts is facts
no matter how much you love a player. he shut it down for the last two games of 2005, there is no debating that. And he is now officially injury-prone. Jerry Rice missed the same amount of games in twice the time.
Look if he puts together 3-4 more good seasons he’s probably a hall of fame player but with players like Megatron passing him by it’s not going to be a sure thing.
I know you guys don’t like to hear facts about your beloved team but it is what it is.

Last two games of 2005
netted the Texans Mario Williams. HOW DARE ANDRE JOHNSON NOT PLAY OUT THE STRING FOR A SHITTACULAR TEXANS TEAM AND, IN SO DOING, HURT THE ONLY THING THEY HAVE GOING FOR THEM (A HIGH DRAFT PICK)?!?!?!?!?!? HE IS AN ASSHOLE!!!
And, by “he is an asshole,” I mean “STFU, dipshit.”

DUDE!!!!!!!!!
you are nuts…i was totally playing off of what i thought was SARCASM from your part….this guy is a stud, BEAST. if he cant go, he cant go. This injury is way worse than what he or texans wanted us to believe. it was a PR thing. If this guy plays @TB consider it a miracle. I am in the sports injury field and yes, i know what I am talking about.
2011 Season is the Reason!!!

like I said when it happened
we’ll be lucky to have him back after the bye week. Andre’s not exactly a fast healer.

Correct me if I'm wrong here
But they said six weeks. If he comes back next week, which seems like the plan, that would be 5 weeks. So explain how coming back BEFORE the estimated time makes you a slow healer?

I have a question...
Why are we announcing his status a couple of days before the game rather than letting the Glitter Kitties plan for his possible return??

there’s really no reason other than Kubiak is just a dern nice guy.
There’s no place for that here.
