Arian Foster Named AFC Offensive Player Of The Week

Nick Scurfield notes:

Foster ran for 155 yards on 30 carries (5.2 average) with a touchdown in the Texans’ 17-10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. His rushing total was the highest in the AFC in Week 4 and the most by any player against Pittsburgh since 2003. Foster scored the game-winning touchdown on a 42-yard run in the fourth quarter, shedding tackles from Pro Bowlers LaMarr Woodley and Troy Polamalu along the way.

After missing two of the first three games with a hamstring injury, Foster became the first player in the NFL this season to average at least five yards with 30 or more carries in a game. The 2010 NFL rushing leader and first-team All-Pro posted his 10th-career 100-yard rushing game and first of this season.

In conclusion, Arian Foster is good at football.

Here

Love it.

All these boundaries - Africa, Asia, Malaysia, America - are set by men. But you don't have to look at boundaries when you are looking at a man - at the character of a man. The question is: What do you stand for? Are you a follower, or are you a leader? -Hakeem Olajuwon

That really is a great video.

I love the music with the video. Slow-Mo with that song is just brilliant.

love Gus Johnson.

I thought it was obnoxious.

It was just one play. I liked the music, I liked the video, but…I don’t know, together they just seemed too dramatic. I appreciate the body of work more than just one play. Chris Johnson makes big plays too, but the rest of the time he’s getting crushed for very little yardage. I’ll take a guy that will average 4 or 4.5 yards a carry that consistently gets 3+ yards over a Corey Dillon/Chris Johnson type big play back. Eddie George style. Earl Cambell style. Luckily Foster is a mixture of both. He breaks them open and he is very steady and consistent and getting positive yardage on a high percentage of his hand-offs.

I just watched the Run DMC video from last week...

And he didn’t do jack squat against the NE front 7 rushing…killed them catching the ball though. Good and bad news for the Texans.

by Peckerwood on Oct 5, 2011 1:52 PM CDT up reply actions

He's Oakland's leader in receptions

Nearly leads in yards, and has more YAC than receiving yards which means he’s catching a lot of screens and swings.

I like DMC, but

if Mario could go Sheldon-Brown-on-Reggie-Bush on him, that would be the highlight of my life to this point.

Yep, he's good out of the back field it seems...

Not sure which is worse…a back trashing us in the run or in the passing game…good times.

More Scurfield tidbits
The Texans are 1 of 3 teams (BAL, DET) in the top 10 in scoring defense (4th/17.5) and scoring offense (8th/26.8)

Texans are also 1 of 3 teams (DAL, SD) to rank in the top 10 in yards on offense (10th/380.0) & defense (10th/323.0)

Foster. Australian for badass.

I don't know how I forgot how good Arian is...

That small juke he gave Palumalu on our own 5 yard line, and then kept his balance to pick up 10+ yards to the outside was unbelievable.

R. Smith: pay the man.

SKREEEE!!! SKREEEEE!!!!

You know what would be cool if every time Arian Foster gets a touchdown everybody skrees….

No! Better yet, every time he gets a touchdown everybody does the Namaste. Now that would be sweet.

can't wait to see

David Anderson get in the game always liked him was sad too see him go. Were gonna have a more patriots style passing attack without aj but we still have playmakers.

Why is everyone picking on Troy?

Its not his fault his hair got in the way of the tackle on Foster…lol

by The Original H-Town Stomp on Oct 5, 2011 1:24 PM CDT reply actions

I think the reason why Troy likes to tackle people by the head is

because he steals a little bit of their hair and adds it to his own.

Congrats Arian

Maybe we can redo 2009 draft to think him and spend a pick on him?

As for Faiders, anybody know the last time they won in Houston? I was looking at pro football reference and finally got tired of looking at old Oilers seasons, they may have never won in Houston or at least not since pre-Bum Phillips

Answered my own question

Raiders have not won in Houston since 10/26/1986, WOW! 25 years, no need to stop that trend now

Texans 28 Faiders 17

I still remember 20 yrs ago

Opening day 47-17 Oilers thumping the faiders. Not a fan of theirs, Kubiak has to hate them from his donkey days. We own them since our own inception.

If you weren't a fan of the hit Brown laid on Harrison, you're a Steelers fan.

Honestly, it was the best case for karma in football I’ve ever seen.

Welcome to Houston, J.J. Watt, Brooks Reed, Brandon Harris, Rashad Carmichael, Shiloh Keo, T.J. Yates, Derek Newton, and Cheta Ozougwu!

That whole team is beat up after this game

Imagine what they’d look like if they weren’t playing a “soft” team like the Texans.

by WhiskeyR on Oct 5, 2011 8:41 PM CDT up reply actions

Arian is the new face of the team.

We need to lock him up for another 4-5 years. He is at the same level as Dre, except he touches the ball 25 times a game.

by b4theproffit on Oct 5, 2011 8:32 PM CDT reply actions

^ this

This is why we will be the best team in the afc by the end of the year. Its an unbalance of power no team has ever had the #1 wr and rb in the game at the same time. Plus we have pro bowlers up and down our roster.

get it while the gettins good!!!

I did that in madden once, sure was a sight to see.
