Thursday Night Football: Open Thread (11/10/11)

If you've got access to the NFL Network, you're probably watching Oakland-San Diego this evening. If you don't have access to the NFL Network, you're probably watching Virginia Tech-Georgia Tech or, if you're a Coog, Houston-Tulane.

Regardless of what you're watching tonight, if you're reading a football blog on a Thursday night, odds are you're watching some sort of pigskin. So DVR "Parks & Recreation" and make liberal use of this open thread, won't you?

I can't watch

unless I go to mom’s house, but I’ll ask this, how many int will carson “I suck at football” palmer throw tonight? I’d say 3 and if I’m wrong it’s going to be more than 3.
next question: how bad will rivers be tonight, I’d guess at least 2 pics.

Whoa...

there can’t be PI against the widest receivers in a fake punt pass? HIT THE FUCK OUT OF THEM should be the entire coaching strategy there.

Yeah

Though I guess Mayock’s explanation made sense. As the guy running with the gunner, you have no idea if the ball has been passed (see, e.g., the Texans running alongside the gunner on that fake punt), so it’s not fair to expect you to avoid contact that would be legal on a normal punt coverage.

so bad play design then…a fake punt/pass should never be thrown to a gunner…S.T. coach oughta know that rule…right?

Yeah most fake punt passes go to someone coming off the line going up the middle of the field.

Only time it should go to a gunner is if he’s uncovered (a very rare situation).

Watching the Texans play in the AFC South

Is still better than watching C-USA teams play. CFB as a whole is hard to watch at times because there are so many mismatches. A few gems here and there though.

I just don't get the attitude.

A majority of Texans enjoy High School football, and we’re knocking a Top 15 program for blowing teams out?

I’d watch Congress play football (no politics). Football, in general, is fun to watch.

I'm not knocking UH for blowouts over teams like Rice or Tulane.

Just said I don’t enjoy watching them play in the C-USA because it’s not that entertaining.

I also don’t have an affinity for either High school (in fact I don’t watch it at all) or College football. The majority here might but I don’t.

Some CFB games I do enjoy watching. Mainly match ups in the the bigger conferences or some Big East/ACC games because those are really competitive. Outside of that not interested.

Prediction: 11-5 AFC South champions.

The ball was still moving when he hit the ground. He didn't get full control until his movement came to a complete stop

Granted, the receiver was never out of bounds, but Sheppard was. Since he touched the ball while he was out, the ball was dead

He’s a dick, but he is still stepping out and getting hammered, and his receiver just quit. That, and a bad oline performance (and a secret rooting for the Chargers) makes me feel bad for him.
