Open Thread: College Football (11/12/11)

Andrew Luck leading Stanford against Oregon in prime time is okay, I guess. It's not David Ash leading the Longhorns versus Missouri, of course.

Luck gets to play at home, whereas Ash has to deal with the notoriously hostile Mizzou crowd in Columbia. At 11 a.m. CST, no less, so the Horns don't even get to sleep in. THE DECK IS STACKED AGAINST TEXAS, I TELL YOU.

This is your open thread for college football this fine November Saturday. Make the most of it.

College Gameday to UH

and I have to miss it for Renaissance Festival!

by Andres_Johnson on Nov 12, 2011 10:33 AM CST reply actions

I wouldn't worry about it.

We learned on Thursday Night’s open thread that UH is completely irrelevant to “real” college football. Going would only waste precious time. They should just hold Gameday at LSU every week!

by riversmccown on Nov 12, 2011 11:32 AM CST up reply actions

i think it should just be lsu-alabama every week

Because everyone else is irrelevant and then it can be the game of the century every week

by TiEaB on Nov 12, 2011 12:27 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

You just don't get it.

Nobody is parading the Cougars as a powerhouse because they stomped Tulane.

By the same token, that doesn’t mean we need you to partypoop a thread full of Coogs fans for being happy it happened. It’s the first time in 20 years or so that they’ve been nationally relevant. Let us enjoy it!

No you still don't get what I said Thursday.

I have no issue with UH following up their strong 2009 season. Good for them they are 11th in the BCS. They might win the C-USA and try to get a nice Bowl win.

But I’m not interested in watching them or anybody else from C-USA. My original comment

I’d watch the Cougars,
If they played teams that were more relevant. Tulane and Rice? Yawn.

If they move to the Big East like has been rumored I’d watch the whole season. Maybe.

Has been exaggerated. It was my honest answer to the original question that was blown out of proportion by you. Since it’s a Houston school it’d be nice if they won a bowl game but I’m not really excited for the team or looking forward to any of their upcoming games.

BTW I’m pretty sure they were relevant in 2009 when they upset OSU on the road and beat Texas Tech. They got all the way up to like 14th and were starting to generate hype before losing to UCF.

Prediction: 11-5 AFC South champions.

They lost to UTEP week 4.

Lost the conference championship to East Carolina and got dismantled by Air Force in a bowl game.
