Danieal Manning Returns To Practice, May Play Sunday At Jacksonville
Unbelievable. The guy broke his leg and had surgery less than a month ago.
Even less believable? Kubes says Manning could play on Sunday in Jacksonville.
"We’re going to monitor him closely, and if he’s able to practice and doesn’t have any setbacks, there’s real good chance he’ll play Sunday," coach Gary Kubiak said.
Two thoughts:
1. Danieal Manning must be made of adamantium.
2. Given all that's happened this season, it's nice to see the Texans have a little good luck in the injury department, isn't it?

Do we need to tear down the Astrodome to appease the Sports Gods? We are just so snake-bitten. Man o Man.
I like that we have Matty-Lite, I sincerely believe that he is more than ready to take the reigns of the team. I took the opportunity to review some of his games from the Cardinals.. Man they had a crappy team, but the team had a lot of moxie.
I believe the Texans do too… Tons of it.

Crazy scheme
if I ever get to own the team. Play in the Alamodome for a year while we disassemble both stadiums and combine the steel and concrete to make a coliseum of glory to the Texans and the rodeo.
And so Jerry Jones can weep that the little boys from Houston outdid him.

I'm a man!! I'm forty!!

When Bud Adams finally dies (hopefully immediately after we crush the Titans’ playoff hopes) he’ll be placed in the center and it will be imploded, thus causing a giant sink hole that will suck him straight down to hell.

Look at it this way, Cowboys fans only say we suck b/c they are jealous of our success.
Remember when we did suck? They don’t say we suck, they simply don’t acknowledge we exist. So now when one does say we suck, just revel in the fact that they now have to acknowledge we exist, so the only viable reply now is to say we suck.
And yes, I was bored enough that I went to Comicle to make a comment saying I don’t want Cowboys news on my Texans RSS. One guy chimed and say we’re only 7-3 b/c we only beat 1 opponent over .500, while getting I quote, “beatdown” by Baltimore, Oakland, and New Orleans.
So I chimed in to reply we were not beatdown and were well within all three losses. I also added that he should look at their own record before spewing we only beat 1 opponent over .500. SF is the only team they beat that was over .500 and they needed OT to do it. I then added that at least all 3 of our losses were to teams currently over .500, unlike a certain team from southern Oklahoma who have losses to teams at and below .500.
PS, hate to be a downer but, if Manning was made of adamantium, he’d never have been out with a broken leg in the first place.
I think they are still EXTREMELY bitter about losing to us in our first ever game. I would be bitter too if I happened to be the most overrated team in the NFL….

Was just browsing espn.com
& I read an article which made my heart flutter, here is a synopsis
Regarding the BESF’s
The Titans are getting mislabeled.
They are not an inconsistent team. If anything, their 23-17 loss to the Falcons at the Georgia Dome made them even more predictable.
Over their past eight games, the formula’s been simple: They have beaten bad teams and lost to good ones.
It’s easy to see they are better than Denver, Cleveland, Indianapolis and Carolina. It’s just as clear they are not in a class with Pittsburgh, Houston, Cincinnati and Atlanta.
The Titans are too sloppy, don’t find enough big plays and don’t match up well enough with quality teams. Ten games into the season, they’re 5-5 and it’s exactly what they deserve.
this made my day & I hope it does the same for you

Was looking at next season....
The awesomeness this defense will spew. I think its realistic we may have to dump demeco’s 5.9 mil of the cap unfortunately as a result of keeping mario and foster. But the great news is we would be in a good position to replace him with Alabama monster ILB D’onte Hightower as our first round pick who could start from day 1. I love captain Demeco but if he doesn’t show signs of becoming close to the player he used to be It’s just a reality of the buisness. A potential LB core of Mario, Hightower, Cush, Barwin, Reed, and Sharpton would be best LB core in NFL. On a side note I would have us taking wr Ryan Broyles in the 2nd rd. He would be a great compliment to Dre. Finally to encourage competition at the NT spot I would draft a NT in the 3rd or 4th round to push Cody and Mitchell to perform harder. Any just my opinions on what I believe can be a scary Texans D next year. No way we let Mario walk by the way.

Not gonna happen
Mario is more to the team than just an awsome LB, He is a very potent psycological weapon who demands the attention of offensive linemen. He opens doors few others can.

texans would swallow too much money releasing demeco.
he is vital to the d. he is the captain and they would never release him. the texans will have to get creative to retain mario and foster. smith will restructure contracts to make it work.

Ya I'm not too worried about it
There are other teams that have managed this much talent before. If they can do it, so can we. Besides, when a post season (esp. a SB) is in the crosshairs, they players are usually open to working with the FO to make it work.

by professortex on Nov 21, 2011 8:26 PM CST up reply actions
You guys that say never may be in for a rude awakening some day
As much as we all love DeMeco, he is not vital to this defense. I think that’s become painfully obvious this year. Cushing is Wade’s main man now. In all likelihood they will try to retain DeMeco but if the numbers don’t work, they don’t work.
The same goes for Mario. It’s a business. At some point in time every team reaches a crossroads with their star players. You can’t keep all of them and have to let some walk. Mario’s situation will be interesting because OLB money is far less than premier DE money, and his contract will have a direct impact on who we keep and who we let go.
I'm a man!! I'm forty!!
DeMeco is already retained
Plus, didn’t he restructure during the free agency period as well?
Man it would suck to see Mario in some other team’s uniform. He’s kind of like ‘Dre, I just don’t even want to imagine it (/covers ears) LA LA LA LA LA LA
You may be right about DeMeco
I can’t keep up with contract statuses, or rather I choose not to because it gives me a headache.
As for Mario, I really hope he stays but it’ll be less painful if we prepare ourselves for the possibility now. He’s sure to draw attention from every 4-3 team out there, and several will likely be able to offer him a lot more than we can.
I'm a man!! I'm forty!!
Mario will never leave Houston.
okay maybe not never but i think he is too tied to this franchise. Everything has been built to make him the vital cog. he was the face of the franchise for a long time along with Andre and losing him hurts. premier players are rare in this league and when you have the opportunity to keep one you do whatever it takes. He was on pace to be an absolute monster this year.

I think a lot of it will come down to how big an ass his agent is.

See i thought i might have been the only one who thinks Hightower would fit perfect.
I would get Dwight Jones in the second if we could.
Demeco has been ballin lately. People just aren't noticing
I figured that if I said it enough, I would convince the world that I really was the greatest.

I have to be honest...
I would almost rather Manning sit out one week and make sure he is healthy over going right at it. We have played just fine without him and it isn’t like Jacksonville has any receivers.
Quinn has played pretty good from what I’ve been able to gather…give him one more game and make sure Manning is okay.
I got another year out of my Steve Slaton jersey...oh wait...no I didn't
Not trying to be a dick,
But Quinn and Manning play different positions. Maybe you meant to say Demps and Nolan have played well filling in for Manning, which would be an assessment that I would concur with. I also agree with not rushing him. I don’t want him tweaking a knee or pulling a hamstring becaue he is favoring a leg that isn’t 100% yet.
agreed
Demps has filled in quite nicely. And it would seem to be a safer bet to let Manning rest one more week before we take on the Falcons.

I'm just hoping
he’s not returning kicks (yet).
Leinart's 2011 final line: 6 wins, 3 losses. 12 TDs - 2 INTs, 2,100 yards with 62% completion.
I dont think they will
my guess is they’ll substitute him very regularly in the game for a week or two
Wooooooohooooo!!!!
Best. Frickin’. News. Ever!!!

This would be huge.
Manning has huge range at safety, and is a heat-seeking missile when he blitzes.
Nolan and Demps have done a fantastic job, but Manning gives us a better chance to win than they do.

so.
We should be able to resign mario, arian, and Chris myers if we drop some contracts other than demeco and Antonio smith, as well as restructure some deals? Makes me feel a lot better to hear that.

Frankly, I think we don't lose anyone for next year
And here is why:
1. These guys like working together.
2. they are eyeballing Superbowl contention both this year and even more so next year. Even if we go to, and win the SB this year, they fully expect to be an even better team next year.
3. They are a young bunch of players and they really like to learn under Wade and Kubiak. They all feel like they still have more to learn (defense more so than offense).
4. Rick Smith is a genius and will get them something worth it. Plus it has been suggested that he is an expert hypnotist (or Jedi) who can convince them that they “really don’t want to leave”.

Good to see
I’m glad to see Manning healing fast. I hope the glitter kitties game is just to get him up to game speed quick, and that Nolan and Demps take most of the snaps.
Where I really think we need Manning is for the game vs. Atlanta.
Anyone having problems with navigating comments this morning?
I’ve tried several browsers (even IE right now, ick) and Z, C, shift-A, etc, aren’t working.
