Battle Red Radio: Lined Heart (9 PM CT)

TAMPA, FL - NOVEMBER 13: Defensive tackle Brain Price #92 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers sacks quarterback Matt Schaub #8 of the Houston Texans as linebacker Geno Hayes #54 cleans up during the game at Raymond James Stadium on November 13, 2011 in Tampa, Florida. (Photo by J. Meric/Getty Images)

The collective asskicking of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was not how good the Texans are any more, sadly, but now we get to discuss how they are going to perform with Matt Leinart is at the controls. As usual, Albert Haynesworth ruins all good things.

Join myself, Tim, and for the first time, Vega! We will host a more general-themed show this week based on Texans topics near and far, with the Jags game also getting a segment. Other featured segments will include a discussion of what a Todd Tony Scheffler is, and our theories about how the rest of the season plays out.

If you'd like to get a question answered, there are two ways:

Star-divide

Option A: You could call in to the show! Our phone number is 661-244-9808. I'm not going to try to create a call-in segment anymore. I'll just work with the calls we have. The lines will open after the show starts, and as I see a caller, I'll take them in and let them lob their questions at us. Keep in mind that a) this is not a toll-free call for you and b) it may take 10-15 minutes to get to your call depending on call volume, long-winded responses, and technological constraints.

I should add: If you call, just give us one question. Your best question. Thanks.

Option B: Leave us a question in the comments. We'll try to hit on it in a special segment near the end of the show.

Here's a direct link to the show if the embed link below does not let you listen live. While you wait, you can catch up on last week's show, where audio drops became commonplace!

P.S.: This show will probably have cursing, and will probably not be suitable for younger audiences.

Hey!

That's Peter King's offensive player of the week you're talking about there.

Never use a metaphor, simile, or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print.
Never use a long word where a short one will do.
If it is possible to cut a word out, always cut it out.
Never use the passive where you can use the active.
Never use a foreign phrase, a scientific word, or a jargon word if you can think of an everyday English equivalent.
Break any of these rules sooner than say anything outright barbarous.

I got a question

can y’all send the NFL Network more footage of Matt Leinart in Houston. They apparently only have a screen to Ob1 for a TD, and another screen to Ob1 for about 30 yards down the sideline.

Is that all there is? I missed all the pre-season games, but he had to throw a few more televised passes.

Leinart's 2011 final line: 6 wins, 3 losses. 12 TDs - 2 INTs, 2,100 yards with 62% completion.

I do not understand the first sentence at all.
The permanent stain of kicking the collective ass of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was not how good the Texans are, but instead how they are going to perform now that Matt Leinart is at the controls.

How could being good be a stain?
How is the question of how they will perform a stain?
Can anyone hip me?

I have a question:

Is there a place to find out QB ratings or comp. % for particular types of plays? For instance, what is Leinart’s numbers when running a QB boot, or a dive option?

Except,Eddie George thinks Vince Young finds a way to win, he's a winner,

The Iggles still have a shot. If they can make it past New England, if they win, he doesn’t throw the pass very well inside the pocket, but the guy he finds ways to win, he’s a winner. He is a winner. That’s the one step I look at when I look at when I see Vince Young is finding ways to win. And, the good thing about Philadelphia is they have the leading rushing in the NFC right now in McCoy.

Question:

Assuming New England is 1st seed, and Pittsburgh is the 5th seed, would it be reasonable for the Texans to try to out-tank the AFC West winner (I know, tough task) in order to avoid going back to Baltimore in the second round?

Basically

Would we rather have the 4 seed than the 3 seed if the 4 seed means playing the Pats and the 3 seed means playing the Ravens?

does the line need to play better in the run game to have success in the passing game?

or are they doing enough in creating lanes and protecting the qb to win games?
