PFT: Sage Rosenfels To Be Released By Dolphins; Will Reportedly Sign With Texans
Just saw this on PFT. Apparently this is being reported by Peter King as happening. I will say that while I liked what I saw from Yates yesterday, we could use Sage.

Yeah, this is on Bleacher Report aswell ho hum. :)
quoting PFT though
Swede that like the Houston Texans and Chelsea FC
"Reported" also on 790AM
I don’t know who their source was, or if was mere speculation on Matt Jackson’s part. Shameless Lance Zeirlein plug……NOW
Did they label it as speculation?

It was the end of a 16 hour shift
I was just listening in the background and not doing a very good job of it.
Redemption would make a nice story...
He’s better than any of the other options I’ve heard discussed… Except maybe Garcia. I gotta’ say I’d like to see what Jeff Garcia could do in this offense.

That would be the story, too
Interesting. Brings up a lot of emotions and isn’t that what sports are all about in the end?

Bring back the Rosencopter!
Seriously though, I would like this signing. He proved to be competent as a starter and knows our system.

The Rosencopter was a bad decision.
But, it was against the Manningful-Colts and we didn’t have a good defense.

The moment he thought he was John Elway
was the moment I realized that it was always gonna be hard to be a texans fan… Also that Sage isn’t John Elway lol
He was 6-4 as a starter
I would take that in a second. He also had a defense and running game that was not as good as the current one.
"Never underestimate the dumb with JJ" - Hugh Jarce
He may have thought he was playing for Schaub's job, which didn't help.
Let’s face it, there aren’t any good free agents, that’s why they are free agents at this point in the season.

I assume even if he is signed Yates will still start this week?
That would be good as we can see what we have in Yates and then make a decision who gets the starter role IMO

Maybe while we are at it
We should ask the Giants to release David Carr, or even call Tony Banks at home.
I wish we could hire coaches without "having grown up in Houston" being a job requirement.
Good thinking
We could use as many quality back-ups as we can get

I'd held off posting this for a couple of reasons
First, the source is Peter King.
Secondly, if the Dolphins do cut him, he doesn’t magically become a Texan. He will need to go through waivers, and we don’t exactly have the highest waiver priority.
Finally, Sage hasn’t played because he has been sidelined by a mysterious blood infection. I don’t even know if he can pass a physical.
That said, I can’t imagine another team will claim him, but I’m not sure if Sage is actually capable of playing.
A Texans fan. Really. No, I'm not kidding.

If he was capable, he might be playing in Miami right now

Yeh, that turned out to be the right choice by Sparano
Moore has turned it around and is getting pretty consistent in Miami
"All our lives we're taught to get in line. The ones who conform never discover." - Undrafted Free Agent and NFL Rushing Leader Arian Foster
Main reason I posted was simply because it was being reported as done
and he could help if Yates struggles and he knows the system. But yes its Peter King and he’s a more nationally known version of Pancakes so it could be completely false.
Sorry
After I posted, I thought I might have offended you. Definitely not my point, so apologies to you if due.
This one just doesn’t “smell” right, know what I mean?

ya no worry, i get your reasons and Peter King isn't a great source
No offense taken bfd just wanted to keep everybody informed
Honestly.
I’d be down with sage as our starter if he was able to play and we claimed him.

I hate Sage Rosenfels so much for the Rosencopter.
It is, in my eyes, the single most selfish play I have ever seen in professional sports.
But with that said, if the Titans don’t block the move on waivers, I’m all for it.
we were up 17
in his first start, where he led us to a great position. Even after that disastrous play, we have a 10 point lead with 7+ minutes to go. Still winnable.
Off the top of my head, Brett Favre’s pass in the NFC Championship game costing them a shot at the Super Bowl was much more selfish.
Yates - our current game manager.
Sage as the back up
Yates as the starter until future notice
Clemens still needs a month to learn the offense

My gues...
6 or 7, I expect a minor injury (knocked silly etc) miss 2 possessions shaking of our starting QB, a backup come in breaks a hand…starting QB comes back wins that game. Get another old timer to fill out ranks….We then go on to win it all…
So 6 or 7.

Heard about this on 94.5 this morning
Thought Rod was just being a derp. If this does happen, I’m all for it… Rosencopter isn’t the kind of mistake you make twice. Yates’ arm looked reeeally good yesterday. But even my girlfriend (who knows nothing of football) noticed he was taking a long time to go through his progressions. He played like a solid rookie and he kept his cool considering he had zero time to come to terms with what was about to happen. But Rosenfels would be nice to have.

Did he get any snaps with the first team in practice since Tampa?
I would suspect no, which makes what we did see from him yesterday all the more remarkable.

Obviously not, so very solid play
I really liked what we saw from him in the preseason and yeseterday. I like Yates over Leinart after a week of Yates prep, no doubt. Leinart got lucky when whoever it was on the Jacksonville defense dropped that would be interception. He had a lot more coming to him the way he was lofting the ball ever so gently.

We also dodged a bullet on D
when Marcedes Lewis dropped an easy TD wide open.
This could have been a very different game without that kind of luck.
I thought Yates had a nice, quick, overhand delivery

I'm more than willing to see what we have in him. Maybe even a little excited.
He didn’t do anything wrong and I think the playcalling kept us from seeing what he’s got.
I felt the same.
We had a glimpse in the two minute drill, then the second half was much like the Waterboy. Kneel three times and punt, make the Jags offense beat us.

Ahhhhh
If you are referring to, “He had a lot more coming to him the way he was lofting the ball ever so gently.” I was talking about Leinart. Yates had a wicked strong arm. I thought he was slow to deliver. Several plays I watched literally Yate’s head tick from right to left as he looked to find an open reciever for about 5-6 seconds, missing several opportunities before finally getting the ball off. BUT, now that I think about it, that really only means two things for sure. 1) Our offensive line is awesome to be giving him so much damn time without any pressure. 2) He was just being overly careful. Which is a good thing for a backup rookie QB to be, and was the entire game plan at that point anyways. Very pleased with Yates.

No, I was talking about "Yates" as in "Yates had a nice, quick, overhand delivery"
I’m not talking about him screening the field for an open man. I’m talking about his motion and release mechanics. I thought he was fluid and quick once he decided to pass the ball. Those are very important traits for a quarterback to have. In contrast, I will say that Schaub is not quick, nor is he overhand. Schaub has a so-called sidearm delivery and I think that leads to his many pass blocks, despite his height.
"All our lives we're taught to get in line. The ones who conform never discover." - Undrafted Free Agent and NFL Rushing Leader Arian Foster
When you say it like that
I picture Schaub’s release, and subsequent ball flight and spiral. Then I picture Yates’, and it is much quicker and more impressive looking. I know nothing of his career at NC, but I hope he has the accuracy to boot. I’ve heard he is a good game manager and team leader.

I'd forgive RosenFails
If he kept the ship from sinking. He’s one of the few guys I’d start over Yates right now.
Odd the Dolphins would release him then again I don’t care right now.
Prediction: 11-5 AFC South champions.
