T.J. Yates Scouting info - a Manning acolyte?
I went looking for some T.J. Yates scouting info from the draft and stumbled across the following article. I don't know authoritative Universal Draft might be, but the writer seems to have done his homework and was rather prescient on a couple of points. I thought you guys might find it interesting.

that's interesting stuff
the only thing I have with it though, wasn’t Yates brought up in Georgia, and was therefore a Falcons fan? I’m sure thats what people on here were saying… other than that though is really interesting, dropping to the 5th seems slightly miraculous reading that
I heard the same thing...
So I did a quick search and found this info on TarHeelBlue.com (emphasis added):

“He’s been extremely well-schooled, he’s like an NFL veteran quarterback,” Kennan told National Football Post today in a telephone interview. "He had great coaching at North Carolina. He had to learn coverages and blitzes and protections. He’s very wise about those things, way ahead of where a lot of guys are at that time. I’ve worked with Byron Leftwich and Chad Pennington and Drew Brees and T.J. is about as good as anybody I’ve seen. He’s very aware. He can watch film and see exactly what’s going on with coverage. He’s very advanced.
“He’s a very quiet leader and guys have great respect for him. He’d be a good guy for Indianapolis because he could learn from Peyton and he’s one of the few guys who’s smart enough to do what Peyton does and call the plays.”

Such a great scouting report. It's so true from what I've seen. My favorite part:
We talk a lot about upside in the Draft game. The quarterback is a unique position, because it’s one where discussions of upside are not exclusive to the subject of a guy’s size, his arm strength, his inherent accuracy, or his feet. With a quarterback there is an upside associated with how much information a guy can process at one time. There is an upside in how dedicated a guy is at getting every minute detail of the position down. There is an upside associated with how hard a guy is willing to work in order to prepare each week for the game. Those are T.J. Yates’ weapons. They’re his tools.
