BRBAPALOOZA: A Mere Week Away!
It's December 15th. This time next week, you'll be anxiously watching the clock as the minutes tick by, inching you ever closer to the glorious festival that will be watching your Houston Texans play AFC South nemesis Indianapolis on Thursday Night Football.
Maybe you have NFL Network at your house. Maybe you don't. Regardless, you surely have a great place to watch the Texans play the Colts next week, surrounded by fellow Texans fans and some of the shining lights of the Battle Red Blog community. Details after the jump, as well as a request that you formally RSVP in the Comments.
The specifics:
WHAT: BRBAPALOOZA (Texans v. Colts)
WHEN: Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 7 p.m. (though I'd suggest getting there earlier to snag a good seat; the bar will get crowded on a Thursday night, especially with the Texans playing.)
WHERE: 360 Sports Lounge.
SPECIALS: $2.00 domestic drafts (yes, Shiner will be considered a domestic for those participating in BRBAPALOOZA), $3.00 wells, and happy hour prices for all appetizers on the menu (except for one appetizer, which will be served free of charge).
WHO: Texans fans. All of 'em.
We're also going to be passing a hat, or a jar, or a shoe, or whatever it is the kids do nowadays, for donations to benefit Fisher House. Donations are by no means required; if you don't want to give or can't give at the moment, don't sweat it. If you would like to make a donation, any amount will be much appreciated, and 100% of the donations will be going to the Fisher House.
Many of you have commented or e-mailed that you'll be in attendance. For the sake of me not having to hunt down that information in other threads or my inbox, I would respectfully ask that you let us know (1) if you'll be coming and (2) how many guests you'll have with you in the Comments below. That's probably the easiest way for me to let our friends at 360 know what kind of crowd we're looking at. If the comments and e-mails I've seen are any indication, we should have a rather boisterous and deep crowd.
Hope to see a ton of you good people there. Should be a blast.

What is this BRBapalooza you speak of?
A palooza has been described as an all-out party of thousands celebrating like there’s no tomorrow. I cannot grasp that. For the Texans, there is definitely a tomorrow…..

Luckily
the description of “palooza” that you’ve provided uses a metaphor to describe the type of celebrating that is expected to occur.
It does not state that we’ll be celebrating because there’s no tomorrow. It merely draws a comparison to a type of celebrating, so that readers of the definition will have a better understanding of the word being described.
Additionally, please cite the source of this definition. I have reservations about its quality.
Thank you.

Okay, I will figure out the plans
The Titans game is Sunday 1/1, I see. Not sure what Mom and Dad are doing. My brother and his family are in town, too. My football watching might be limited. We’ll see. I’ll let you know.

Question:
How will seating be arranged? I’m a little worried getting off work at 6:00 I won’t get there til past 6:30. Will I still be able to get seating by then?
Free Parking
In a garage behind the bar.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...
Re: When
If you get there around 6:30, you may still be okay. Kickoff is not until 7:20 p.m.

Well, I started putting the mechanisms in place for me to make it, but my family decided the 22nd would be a great day to celebrate Christmas. So, I won’t make it. At least one of you has to show up sans pants to make up for my loss. papabear, I’m looking at you.

I have not shown my face at 360 since my Madden skillz suddenly abandoned me, but I should be there for this event if I am not working too late.
What Madden skillz?

Looking forward to finally putting some faces with the names around here!
Obviously not living in the area, I've never been to 360
Is it cool to bring my 1 year old or is it just a bar where everyone has to be 18+ to get in?
by LouisianaTexan on Dec 15, 2011 5:18 PM CST up reply actions
I've never been, but I don't believe there's a minimum age
I know one poster mentioned on the last topic that he was 17 and would be there, and there was no protest.
Thanks
I hope not. My attendance is 100% contingent on the place being kid friendly (although the crowd may not be)

I'd Call The Bar To Ask
Having been there at night for games, though, I would leave my kid at home.

Still looking like I'll make it +1.
Plans are very fluid at the moment, but I will be there. Vacation is already in the books for work.

Our head count stands at 4. You guys get to meet my gingerheaded left handed self, my courageous and talented wife, and a couple of other Texans’ fans that we are sticking in the side car.
Question: Are we allowed to bring any products of a food nature? I know that 360 will be having Apps, etc., but I have a specific reason for asking.
Tim? Dost thou know?
Follow the invalid toad.
Left-handed ginger?!?
Is there not a “must have a soul” requirement to get in????

Re: Bringing In Food
Seeing as how the establishment has food for sale, I imagine they’d frown on people bringing their own food in.

I may have 10 people with me, could be more, could be less depending on how many cancel at the last minute (like they always do)
