Thursday Night Football: Open Thread (Jaguars v. Falcons)

It's a primetime, nationally televised football game, so that can only mean one thing: Another stage for the Jacksonville Jaguars to shine upon!

This is your open thread for tonight's tilt between the Jags and Falcons. For some reason, I'm thinking next week's Thursday Night game will prove to be a bit more exciting around these parts.

Yeah

I had a couple partial scholies to play D1 (including Miami), but I had major knee surgery my senior year. Knee surgeries back then were a little (lot, actually) more damning back then. I also had a huge problem with my temper and was kicked off my HS team. Came to UT, stayed in shape, worked on my temper, and promptly tore my ACL, MCL, patella tendon, and both meniscus in one fell swoop. So it goes…

Gabbert got chased out of the pocket, and rolling to his left, tried to throw to the WR who had run a curl on that side, but the play at gone on long enough that the Iowa CB was standing in front of the WR. Gabbert threw it anyway. Returned for the game winning TD by Iowa.

I really hate Sky Sports sometimes

In answering an email which asked is Jake Locker the best young QB in the AFC South, they made him out to be a uncontested OROY, while neglecting to even mention T.J.

I know I shouldn’t be bothered about being ignored by the media, but it still frustrates me. No wonder I’ve yet to meet another Texans fan in the UK…

From what I’ve seen of English people, their tendency is to root for the winningest team (see Man U.) Beyond that, the Texans have never played a game in England, unlike certain other franchises. So what made you a Texans fan?

I have relatives who emigrated to Houston

and when I went to visit them I absolutely loved the city and everything about Houston, so when I got interested in the NFL it just seemed logical to follow their team. Once I decided that I wasn’t gonna change.

Also, my dad once saw the Oilers play in the Astrodome in the 80s, so there was a slight connection there, although he now follows the BE-SFs… it’s very disappointing tbh hahaha

i saw the fired coach of the chiefs

He said that Yates what a product of the UNC offense preparing TJ Yates to run this offense emulating what we do……

Question:

Could you as a long term coach embed a troll in a college to run your offense scheme and develop your future third rounders to come in with an advantage in the NFL for your team. Under the radar of course?? Could Kubes be grooming yates four years ago

by CostaRica Texans on Dec 15, 2011 10:23 PM CST reply actions

I think the most likely thing

is that they saw how balanced and effective our offense is and decided to emulate it based on merit.

by WhiskeyR on Dec 15, 2011 10:27 PM CST up reply actions

Or that the UNC offensive coordinator was once a disciple of Dick Jauron

And Jauron was the disciple of guys like Reid and Mariucci who came from the Bill Walsh WCO coaching tree…..like Mike Shanahan and Gary Kubiak.

I FEEL SORRY FOR JAG FANS

They Traded up to get Gabbert, and we waited around and got a superior QB in the 5th round.

Now they have to go through atleast one more season with this pretty boy ass clown and man… I can’t wish that upon anybody. Here’s hoping y’all get Barkley or someone…

….Just not RG3.

…cost me an easy 5k per month. That is the only direct impact government has ever had on me, except for some tax thing that once for me an extra $26 per month.

According to Wikipedia

You are correct.

At least in terms of meaning. Pronunciation remains somewhat unclear.

by WhiskeyR on Dec 15, 2011 11:12 PM CST up reply actions

Actually.. from Wikipedia
The author of µTorrent wrote in 2005, “I usually say ‘you torrent’ because it looks like a u”, and offered “microtorrent”, “mytorrent” (as “my” [myː] is the Swedish pronunciation of the Greek letter µ) and later “mutorrent” as alternate pronunciations.36

by WhiskeyR on Dec 15, 2011 11:16 PM CST up reply actions

The main reason that I say "mu torrent"

is because μ is typically only used as an abbreviation for micro in the context of other abbreviations. Since Torrent is actually spelled out, I can’t imagine that it should be pronounced “micro torrent.”

by T-Moar on Dec 15, 2011 11:20 PM CST up reply actions

I think it is because it is a very small bittorrent client
