Wade Phillips Has Surgery, In Stable Condition; Updates On Andre Johnson And Joel Dreessen
The team issued a statement declaring that Wade underwent a procedure on his kidney and gallbladder today, declaring he "had completed the surgery and was in stable condition." Here's wishing a speedy recovery to the best acquisition any team made this past offseason.
In that same link, we learn that Andre Johnson and Joel Dreessen missed practice today. Kubes made it sound like one of 'em will play on Sunday, but the other won't. Who's who? You'll have to jump to find out.
Concerning Andre Johnson...
“Obviously, he’d have to make a lot of improvement, but the fact that we have him out here this week means that we’re getting closer to him being on the field,” Kubiak said. “I would not expect him to practice tomorrow, probably give you a decision after that, but we’re heading in the right direction.”
On Joel Dreessen...
“His knee is still swollen,” Kubiak said. “Joel doesn’t need to practice to play, so that was the decision that we made to make sure that we get the swelling down before Sunday, but I would expect him to be there.”Panthers vs Texans coverage

"Joel doesn’t need to practice to play,..."
Eh? Why is he different?
Hasn’t Koob pretty much declared “No practice, no play” in the past?
He's saying that he knows the system.
If he knows the system, and is slightly hurt, it’s best that he sits out. It’s not like Joel, or even Andre are going to sit out of practice if they were healthy.
.................
pfffttt....
grow up please :) Kubiak simply meant that its Thursday and he didnt need to practice today so he(Joel) doesn’t push his knee to far….thats it….
All I want to do is FAAAARRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMM!!!....and COok.
I think he means exactly what he says.
Dreessen does not need the reps. As long as his knee is fine, he’ll play. He literally does not need to practice in order to play. Much like Cushing his rookie year.
I think the difference is when a player is coming off an injury that he has missed time from and needs to get back in football shape and/or knock the rust off.
Nicked up players (like Dreessen) can afford the rest.
Yep, they really just need to loosen up. The whole team.
They have their conditioning and football shape already. Right now, they just need to concentrate on prepping for the gameplan and fine-tuning that contrast. The new guys like Jeff Maehl, if he is the new guy, might go full speed for timing purposes.

He should sit this one out
They should be able to run all up on the Panthers. Maybe bring Dre back for that Colts game but they should run all on them too.
Madame de Staël once said, "One must choose in life between boredom and suffering." De Staël is dead but there is always an alternative.
This is where the cool is.
yeh i feel like Andre just needs to get back into form
and a couple of normal games like Colts and Titans would do that before he goes to a playoff game where everyone is pushing themselves to win

Yep, sit him
We don’t need him becoming the next Ahman Green, never seeing the field due to a nagging injury situation. He’s over 30, you know.

Not to mention the last two times he has been injured has been on OUR field
I would almost rather his first game back be at Indy…Oh yea, fix the damn field too!

Maybe the Texans should enact a new rule that keeps any player over 30 from playing on it

Off topic, but...
Does anyone have any information on playoff tickets for non-season ticket holders? I know the mothership had mentioned something a few weeks ago, but I’ve been hunting around for news with no luck.

WTF should we expect out of our team on Sunday?
Will they have a big letdown after clinching the AFC South, or will they be buzzed out of their minds by the hysterical homecoming crowd and rape and pillage the Punkthers?
I'm going to guess they come out flat in the first half like the Bengals game, but mount a comeback in the 2nd.
Are you saying Yates is the next Tebow?

I would expect them to show up and play football.

Id expect them to do what they have been doing all year...
And win by any means necessary. Theres alot to gain from these next 3 games.
Our team's psychology is apparently pretty stout.

That doesn't sound like they are soft. Have you checked this status with Lombardi?

I wonder if one of our illustrious and ambitious writers would care to do some research on this type of field
Questions that could be answered: Where else is there a field similar to this field? What is the record of that field with regard to injuries?
and, GO!

At home
With a loud crowd, I’m expecting them to put up the first defensive shutout.
Are they gonna be raising the AFC South Championship banner this Sunday? If so I’m expecting the crowd to go apeshit and keep it loud alll dayyy lonnggg!!!

They should bring in Dreesen exclusively for red-zone situations
and let him rest for the rest of the game.
i believe in this team. we need to keep battling. we can win this game.

At the end of the 1st half in Methville against the BESFs,
I was totally convinced the Texans were going to blow it and lose.
At the end of the 1st half in Cincinnati against the Bungles, I was totally convinced the Texans were going to come back and win.
Something has changed, and it ain’t just me.
Get well soon Wade
We need you there
