Titans Will Interview Bruce Matthews For Opening At Offensive Line Coach

No real surprise here, though this is interesting:

Because Matthews has not signed the two-year contract he agreed on with the Texans two weeks ago, the Titans did not have to get permission to interview him for their vacant offensive line coaching position.

I think Bruce Matthews' departure could well be a foregone conclusion, though the possibility remains that family ties keep him in Houston. How do you see this playing out?

It's a no-brainer

He wouldn’t take the interview if his family was going to keep him from going.

It was always going to happen no matter if he’d signed the contract or not. Texans would not (and never have) denied permission.

It’s a bigger gain for them than it is a loss for us.

True.

But there’s still a part of me that wishes McNair and the Texans Braintrust would say “Fuck you, Bud, you cannot haz!” even though I know it’ll never happen.

He's like the Brett Favre of coaching....

If it's for a promotion

The Titans don’t need permission. They only need to notify the Texans. The Texans cannot deny permission for an interview.

He is gone. But I think we will be fine. Not a huge loss IMO.

But this is a great day. Dallas gives Vick a key to the city, and the texans get a 3-4 round sandwich pic for cunta. That where our new WR should come from IMO.

Where Did You Read About The Compensatory Pick?

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

by Tim on Feb 8, 2011 4:37 PM CST up reply actions

I heard on the radio multiple times today

But youre right, can’t find anything online.

If you look at past comp. pics, it looks like that should be about right

This

" Compensatory picks cannot be traded, and the placement of the picks is determined by a proprietary formula based on the player’s salary, playing time, and postseason honors with his new team, with salary being the primary factor"

Titus Young makes me drool

On WallerFootball.com they say he is a mix between Desean Jackson and Mike Wallace… are you serious? Jacoby who? However, I know he is projected to go before the Texans might be willing to spend a pick but I think we have a good shot at Leonard Hankerson with the pick you mentioned and we would have the U holdin down the flanks of our offense. After him it doesnt seem like its worth using a pick on a WR seeing as you might just being getting another JJ or Holliday or Dickerson and we already have them on the roster.

Agreed

If there is a guy they LOVE then great. Of not, BPA on defense, or possibly OT if a guy they have rated high slips.

Who am I kidding, it will be a TE for sure. Of course

He seems awfully eager to get out of here.

If he doesn’t get this gig, I’m expecting to read, “Burger King will interview Bruce Matthews for opening at fry cook”.

Interesting

because I don’t get that impression at all.

If anything, I think the opposite is true but it would be impossible for him to pass up such an opportunity.

This upsets me

I have always and will always have the ultimate respect for Bruce Matthews. I hate that he is going to the Titans, absolutey hate it! I wish him the best though. He is a good man and was a great player. I just wish he didn’t have to get his major break in Nashville. I will have to try to find a way to not hate him while hating him at the same time.

this is

turning into a dream offseason.

Frank Bush fired? Check.
VY released/embarrased? Check.
Fisher fired / tits in turmoil? Check.
Beelzebud paying Frank Bush to coach? Check and mate.

the tenth time is a charm

Plus

Vick getting the key to the city of Dallas? – Check
Jerrah getting embarrassed about seating in his new super stadium? – Check

It gets better and better

I am totally optimistic about the Texans new season - at least until the first of the 4 or 2 (if any) preseason games

by Barryfromtexas on Feb 9, 2011 10:34 AM CST up reply actions

The only thing better

If Bud had kept Fisher and VY, and then the Titans became the next team on Hard Knocks….that would have been entertaining and embarrassing! Can we rewind history and make that happen?

I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.
