DeMaurice Smith On ESPN New York
Thanks to Sports Radio Interviews for passing along this partial transcript and link to the entire exchange between NFLPA head DeMaurice Smith and 1050 ESPN New York.
While Smith is obviously only presenting one side of the debate, it's beneficial to read how the NFLPA is spinning the problems that will likely need to be addressed for a new agreement to be reached. Enjoy.

Understanding financial transparency
Is that anything like the Obama Stimulus Plan financial transparency that was promised to us? If it is, then sure, don’t we all understand what that means?
(Dear censors, This is not a vote for or against the Obama stimlus plan and therefore should not be construed as a political statement)
I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.
BANNED.
Just because I feel like it.

But it was a shot at his "transparency"
:)
But that is the same for all politicians I guess
I am totally optimistic about the Texans new season - at least until the first of the 4 or 2 (if any) preseason games

The owners hold all the cards
They get money season or not – the players don’t
I have no idea how the players can “make” the owners have transparency.
I hope they find a way to work it out

Huh?
I think I’m missing something…

How do the owners get money with no season?

They get some, but certainly not from the games themselves
and this brings up a point I’ve been thinking about, as I will now explain.
The NFL continues to get revenue from hat and t-shirt sales. I use that term loosely, as it includes everything they sell to fans. Anything licensed by the NFL that is sold, they receive a commission on it. So, where am I going? If fans want to influence this NFL Owners/Players Lockout, they can complain all they want and it might fall on deaf ears. What fans can do is stop buying all the NFL crap! So, that being said, it would involve some amount of organization (verb and noun). Someone (not me) would have to form a coalition of fans and promote the cause and promoted it loudly, very loudly.
Okay, that is my message. I expect this is the last I will hear about it. Okay, Goodbye, folks. I’m backing out of the protest business now. Someone may read this and take it and make it their own. Have fun with it. Good luck!

Since the radio guys come here and steal all our stuff, I expect to hear more of this on SportsRadio 610, 1560 The Game, 790 Whatever They Call Themselves Now, and 97.5 ESPN

Keep an eye out for those black-on-black helicopters following you around now...
… ‘cuz Roger “Big Stick” Goodell doesn’t like talk of “boycott”…
I happen to agree with you… So I say this… We start our own “T” (for Texans) Party and just informally all agree to stop funding NFL-licensed products for the duration of the negotiations. I’m going to put up a FanPost and see what the reaction is.

Interesting
I hadn’t heard about the billion $ a year demand from the owners. If the union is even semi-accurate with their statement then the owners have some explaining to do.
Which is part of the reason why they want the 18 game schedule
