Bruce Matthews Speaks About New Gig With Titans
The relevant quotes in the aftermath of Bruce Matthews signing a two-year contract to coach the Tennessee offensive line:
"I was very happy with the Texans, and I know they’re headed in the right direction, but I looked at this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Matthews said after joining the Titans. "Because of my respect for (coach) Gary (Kubiak) and Mr. (Bob) McNair and the opportunity they gave me, I really did struggle with this decision.
"They treated me so well. I really believe good things are going to happen to the Texans next season, but I’m very excited about opportunty to work for Munch and to coach my son. Not many coaches in this league get a chance like this. After weighing it for a couple of days, I just knew in my heart that I had to do it."
You know what you have to do now, Coach. Use the invaluable knowledge you gained at Reliant Park. Install an unbalanced protection scheme that allows Mario Williams to go unblocked. You of all people know that no man should sleep on Amobi Okoye. The man demands three blockers at all times!

TOTALLY off topic .. but..
Let’s get this guy!

Browns have informed NT Shaun Rogers he will be released. Rogers, 31, has had off field issues and was due to make $5.5M w/ a $500k bonus
Die hard Texan fan from the heart of Denmark!
Eeenteresting.
Rogers still has the potential to be an impact player for another few years. But at this point, he’s a serious injury risk. If healthy though… probably a better option than any rookie or other free agent. It’s definitely not the kind of signing the RIck Smith has the stones to make, but some general manager is either going to look brilliant or idiotic come next season.
As for the incoming, “but Wade wants a small nose tackle” comments… That’s a farce. Wade wants somebody who can get into the backfield, and even at 350, Rogers can do that. He’s one of those rare breeds of size and speed.
I have so much respect for Gary
…that I didn’t sign the contract they gave me two weeks ago.
But whatever. Hate to see him go because of who he is, but not for any real football reasons. It’s going to suck to see him get meth-mouth though.

You know he was holding off in anticipation of this opportunity
I wish him the best. This is the best thing for him. He’s a great guy and deserves to be happy.
I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.
He probably had a phone call
From a friend of the cousin of the guy that cleans the Titan’s office
I am totally optimistic about the Texans new season - at least until the first of the 4 or 2 (if any) preseason games

A brilliant strategy, no doubt.
It’ll be our reverse-sabotage for what Chris Brown did to us.
Who wouldn't take the opportunity to be involved with their kids career?
I hate to see anyone go to the dark side but I can’t blame the guy for taking an opportunity to work wit his best friend and more importantly to guide and protect the career of his son.
Kevin Matthews
backup Center for the Titans.
Spent most of 2010 on the practice squad, but saw some playing time late in the season.
I look forward
To his failure? I guess? Not sure it matters to us.

What do you mean let
you imply that the Texans have any say in the matter.
I wish we could hire coaches without "having grown up in Houston" being a job requirement.
