Texans 35:1 In First Pre-Season 2012 Super Bowl Odds

The 2012 Super Bowl odds, via bodog.com, are up just in time for you to remember that there might be a next season. Your Houston Texans? 35:1 odds, which ties them with the Chiefs and Buccaneers for 14th place on the list. The Packers are 7:1 to defend their title, and the Patriots come in second at 15:2. The Colts are 14:1, and are the only team ahead of the Texans in the AFC South.

Lance Zierlein put up his very own odds earlier today at the must-read View From The Sideline, and he pegs the Texans at 25:1. Like BoDog, the Packers and Patriots are the two favorites, and the Texans are behind just the Colts, while the Jaguars gather up some more disrespect at 50:1.

What say you, BRB? Is that about right for our Texans, or are oddsmakers everywhere sniffing a bit too much of the Wade Phillips glue?

It seems to me

That the media has been trying to predict the Texans “emergence” since 2007.I was watching ESPN first take this morning and someone picked the Texans as a surprise team for the 2011 season.yeah if they get better secondary play and the defense is even above average they could win 11 or 12 games in my mind.Problem is, we haven’t had that defense that we could truly rely on.I’m deeply interested to see how Wade will rearrange the defense and what who we will draft not to mention any potential FA’s we might pick up.35:1 seems about right to me though since it’s tough to predict just what the Texans will do this upcoming season.

Don't you mean 2002?

I remember them hyping up how good our defense looked then & if they built the offense up quickly enough, we could be a serious playoff contender back then

You know

….think I’ll be placing a bet

I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.

Sounds like easy money if you've got the bankroll.

As much as I love my Texans, those are fabulous odds for betting against them.

Good odds

I guess Mr Wade is bringing some swagger to the Texans, also Shaun Rogers has just been released from the browns. Sign him now Texans

I got 5 on it

Shaun Rogers that is, not texans to the superbowl. Give me 10-1 they miss the playoffs and I’ll throw in 5k in a heartbeat, after I steal it from someone of course.

Since you're AllenOU, I guess that means 10K

Wade Phillips glue?

Yikes, I did NOT need that image in my head.

I find it hard to understand the odds

mathematics

If there are only 32 teams how can the odds be higher than 31:1?

I am totally optimistic about the Texans new season - at least until the first of the 4 or 2 (if any) preseason games

There's a human element.

It’s not like rolling dice. Some teams are better than others (and the Texans aren’t one of ’em).

by Nashmeister on Feb 10, 2011 12:12 AM CST up reply actions

True

If this were a poll, the Texans would be “Other.”

It's not about how many teams there are.

It’s about what number is required to make 50% of people bet one way and 50% bet the other way.

Plus there are outlying variables like strength of schedule, current personnel and coaching staff which raises or lowers those odds.

No one said it was betting odds

Those are as logical as stock market perdictions

Well,

that’s the only reason they make those odds.

You know in madden

I made the switch on defensive schemes…

The secondary did fairly well.. though there are been those Trademark Texan Moments.
example Pass thrown into triple coverage at which point the ball is tip and the three players juggle the tipped pass between them before the opposing teams WR comes away with it and runs it in for a touchdown.

Record at 11- 5
