Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

I was curious what you guys think about this. I love Slaton simply because he's a Mountaineer, but was curious how he is coming along after his injury. As for the blog, the debate seems to be if he is worth a 5th rounder. Your thoughts?

A fifth rounder

For the worst kick returner in Texans history? For a guy who got 30 carries this year and is the 4th best running back on the depth chart? Throw in LaRon Landry, Brian Orakpo and next year’s 2nd rounder and we have a deal.

He's worth this years 1st rounder

I guarantee.

A Texans fan. Really. No, I'm not kidding.

You guys have a short memory

What about 1600 total yards, 10 total touchdowns 2 years ago?

Seriously, as resident experts, what happened to Steve Slaton?

he tried to add some wieght for his second season and he wasn't as quick or effective. Then he got hurt and has never been the same

I have heard that he really took a beating his rookie year, so he wanted to add a little weight to handle it better , but then he was nowhere near the same RB. Then he had the neck thing that caused numbness/lack of strength in his arm/shoulder which eventually required surgery. He has never looked like himself since, even after supposedly getting a clean bill of health. Google his surgery and look at the x-rays and tell me if you think he is ever going to be a feature back again. Fumbles also became a huge problem, though that was probably related to the nerve issue with his neck.

He was terrible as a kick returner, but he might still have some value as a 3rd down back on screens and things like that…RB’s have a short career window in most cases. Sadly, Steve’s might already be closing. I would take a fifth rounder in a heartbeat for him. I seriously doubt the Redskins are interested in Slaton at all. Baby-Shan should be vary aware of his struggles.

3rd round pick is as high as his wroth could go.

Anything more than that would be a steal for the Texans. If we could get one of their good defensive players for him though I’d take that trade.
