With The Twenty-Ninth Pick Of The 2011 BRB Mock Draft, The Chicago Bears Select...

As mock GM of Da Bears, basement dweller shake n bake brings the pick.  As a tribute to Trev Alberts, he selects...

Star-divide

With the 29th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft the Chicago Bears select Derek Sherrod, OT, Mississippi State. The Bears QBs were sacked on about 1 in every 9 dropbacks, the highest rate in the league and at the same time averaged under 4 YPC on the ground. 2008 first round pick Chris Williams was flipped inside to guard in favor of 2009 starting LG Frank Omiyale so he's unlikely to be the answer there for the Bears.

The Bears could also look to DT where they cut ties with former Pro Bowler Tommie Harris, WR where they are a true #1 away from an excellent group of receivers or on the interior line which wasn't much better than the tackles.  Sherrod is the pick over Wilkerson, Heyward, Baldwin, Hankerson, Hudson and The Wiz on the basis of player value and the premium on protecting the blindside.  The king's ransom paid for Cutler will look terrible if they allow him to be smashed into a bloody pulp before the picks they gave up are even reaching their prime.

Especially with Phil Taylor off the board, this looks like a smashing pick to me.  What say you, BRB denizens?

I think wilkerson would be the better pick

but i cant argue with this one. Cutler is so overrated, and a pick like this at least helps him stay on his feet a little longer before winging it into triple coverage

I considered Wilkerson

realized he was there as I was writing up the Sherrod pick, thought about it long and hard and decided that they really can’t pass on a 1st round caliber O-lineman

Choke/Clutch is the fetishization of the small sample size.

I think youre right

They have the whole franchise invested in cutler.

They can go for a DT in round two

right

you imagine the Bears address wide receiver at least twice in this draft, right?

Knox, Hester and Bennett would be a great 2 through 4

they just need a real #1

Great pick

whats sad is even though he was getting hit alot he was getting rid of the ball for good gains every now and then.

Excellent pick

The Bears could use a lineman and they walk out with one of the draft’s higher rated tackles.

The Bears have options and this is a good pick

I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.
