There's little question that the Texans' 2006 draft is the best in the team's history.  Now, there's still some disagreement, to put it lightly, about who deserves credit for the sudden turn-around in our ability to draft actual football players.  This was Gary Kubiak's first draft, and he was being assisted, to some extent, by Charley Casserly.  Regardless, this draft was wildly successful, as we even found "Whiteout" David Anderson in the 7th Round.  To kick off our enjoyment of this draft, we'll first visit Owen Daniels (scouting report).

To say this first pick of the 2006 4th Round has exceeded expectations is a major understatement.  Daniels snagged five touchdowns as a rookie in 2006, then exploded as a major force in 2007 and 2008.  Halfway into the 2009 season, while he was well on his way to becoming an elite TE in the NFL, Daniels tore an ACL for the third time in his career against the Buffalo Bills.  While Joel Dreessen has done a fantastic job subbing for Daniels, Daniels' slightly superior foot speed makes him just a bit more dangerous.  To date, Daniels has accumulated 245 receptions, 2,972 yards, and 17 TDs.  His career 12.1 yards/reception is outstanding, highlighting Daniels' ability to stretch the field.

Bouncing back from a third ACL tear proved to be tough in 2010.  A healthy Daniels definitely makes our offense better, and if he can return to his 2009 levels, he's yet another weapon at Matt Schaub's disposal.

5A. Matt Schaub: As Barryfromtexas mentioned, because I involved P-Burnt on the worst list, I should've included Schaub, who was acquired for a pair of 2nd Round picks (2007 and 2008) and a swap of first round picks.  Had I included Schaub in this list, he'd be about here, if not a bump or two higher.

5B. Chris Myers: Also, too, Myers would be in this list about here.  Nabbed for a 6th Rounder, Myers was excellent in 2009 and outstanding in 2010.
