Saturday Night Tunes (Sunday Edition)
Hey there folks.
Since BFD is too old to even keep this up, I figured that i'd breathe i some new life to this series.
Fan of Rise Against? Did you get the new album? Pretty good shit right? I received a copy of the album the night before and had access to the whole album weeks before the release, so I already knew that it was gonna be good. It's definitely an ode to their new found sound, but there's a couple of tracks that bass-driven for the fans of the old stuff.
Here's one of my favorite tracks off of the new album:
Satellite - Rise Against from new album endgame 2011 (via Uprising96)
It's a fucking good song. Great lyrics as well.
Besides Rise Against, i've been listening to a lot of Old 97's lately after seeing them live a month back. They were great as usual.
Old 97's - Time Bomb (Live on KEXP) (via kexpradio)
If you're from Texas, you know who they are. If not, the lead singer is Rhet Miller. Don't know who Rhet Miller is? GTFO
The bands that opened for the Old 97's in their last leg of the tour were pretty good too. One that caught my eye in particular was Those Darlins. Didn't like them at first but they grew on me. The band consists of three hot chicks. They have a dirty Nashville, reckless punk rock sound to them so if you're into that, you should check them out. They played at SXSW and will be playing at Free Press Summerfest this coming June.
Those Darlins--Fun Stix Party (via kingofthecastle7)

So far the new Rise Against is like my 5th favorite album by them
I usually take awhile to warm up to new albums but I’m just not feeling most of it.
These hands will always be rough
Which one do you like the least?
If I were to take a guess, i’d be Appeal to Reason.
The other songs in “Endgame” takes a couple of listening to before you warm up to them. “Architects” and “Satellites” are the ones that stood out to me immediately when I first heard the entire album. But im starting to like “Letting Go” a lot and some other songs.
If you’re familiar with the album “Siren Song of the Counter Culture,” you’ll notice that “The First Drop” sounds almost exactly like “Disparity by Design” from the new album.
Capt. Nately: You're a shameful opportunist! What you don't understand is that it's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.
Old man in whorehouse: You have it backwards. It's better to live on your feet than to die on your knees. I know.
-Catch 22-
heh
I would put revs per minute and siren song around the same, and appeal to reason and sufferer a notch or two below that. I never really got into unraveling.
These hands will always be rough
Unraveling was a pretty raw album.
That’s what I love about it. Short 1-2 minute songs with blistering guitar riffs and heavy bass lines.
Capt. Nately: You're a shameful opportunist! What you don't understand is that it's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.
Old man in whorehouse: You have it backwards. It's better to live on your feet than to die on your knees. I know.
-Catch 22-
Revolutions was huge for them.
There’s so many good songs in that album. I think that’s when they started doing a breakdowns and using actual choruses for songs. Loved the bass in that as well.
Capt. Nately: You're a shameful opportunist! What you don't understand is that it's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.
Old man in whorehouse: You have it backwards. It's better to live on your feet than to die on your knees. I know.
-Catch 22-
Still haven't seen the movie.
But I heard that Trent Reznor did a great job with the score.
Capt. Nately: You're a shameful opportunist! What you don't understand is that it's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.
Old man in whorehouse: You have it backwards. It's better to live on your feet than to die on your knees. I know.
-Catch 22-
Oh, and you got me listening to boysetsfire
again along with Death By Stereo and Comeback Kid
Capt. Nately: You're a shameful opportunist! What you don't understand is that it's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.
Old man in whorehouse: You have it backwards. It's better to live on your feet than to die on your knees. I know.
-Catch 22-
I did
when I started getting more into metal-core. Norma Jean and Job for a Cowboy is still pretty bad ass.
Capt. Nately: You're a shameful opportunist! What you don't understand is that it's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.
Old man in whorehouse: You have it backwards. It's better to live on your feet than to die on your knees. I know.
-Catch 22-
Dearest Jordann
You rock.
Hugs,
me

If you haven't heard of Steel Panther, you need to hear them
These guys are hilarious. They’re a parody of 80’s Glam Metal, they’ll do covers often, but their original stuff will having you dying of laughter. Their concerts are pretty much a comedy show as well. They’re damn good musically, but their lyrics are just so fucking funny. Also if you watched the movie “Rock Star”, you might recognize the lead singer (even though he had a very small part in the movie)

Reminds me of Spinal Tap.
Which in turns reminds me that the greatest poster I’ve ever seen: “Tonight, I’m gonna rock you tonight!”
I might upset some people with this
But I don’t think Spinal Tap’s songs were anywhere near as funny as Steel Panther’s songs

Stripper Girl & Party All Night are definitely my favorites
Especially the album version of Party All Night with Justin Hawkins joining in on vocals. Here’s one with him live

I've got some songs to contribute that i found on youtube.
disclaimer: when i say songs i don’t mean songs and while i did submit these for your listening… experience… i do so in a humorous way and in no way like the music despite the fact that some actually do and mainly put them up due to funny band/song names “Enjoy”!

It's been a hip hop month
I saw Das Racist a week or two ago, and they are pretty amazing. Conscious, intelligent rap with some amazingly deft wordplay. Supercool.
I have also been listening to a ton of Childish Gambino, because Donald Glover is a genius. See: The Longest Text Message
Darn, not on emusic
But looks really interesting.
Also, it’s douchebag hipster. That’s what we natives call all the SXSW people when they come to town :-P
