Soon enough, I imagine Jordan Black will weigh in with how Rick Smith doesn't tip well at restaurants.

Rick smith has always to me seem like a yes man.

I know i am not suppose to bring down my people like that, but that is the way alot of people see him. He has no say in anything i bet. They just stuck him out there so i would not see the texans FO is southpawed/. Anyways i hope none of this is true and he goes on being the best yes man in history.

I agree

He may not be the best GM in the league, but they all have their faults. I don’t think it is a big deal that he is not flamboyant or “noisy”.

Seriously

I used to have this manager who complained I didn’t show a “sense of urgency” when problems arose. Sense of urgency, to him, meant running around cluelessly and yelling at people. Staying calm, cool, collected, and thoughtful was completely verboten.

Sense of urgency when making decisions can get you in real trouble

Btw, Maybe it’s because I’m not too swift, but I’m not sure I get the conclusion to your story. Maybe I need to know more about your story. Did your manager make a habit of blowing up situations when there was no need?

Also, I've said it before and I'll say it again

Sean Pendergast in one of the dregs of the broadcasting profession. He is a drama-queen who savors any kind of sports-related non-sports drama. You can put him in the category of a Jim Rome and Travis Rodgers. He’s just a dreg trying to make a name for himself.

I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.

I wouldn't put Jim Rome in that category

He already has made a name for himself, the other two are still trying

Jim Rome has a unique knack

For stretching an hour and 45 minute show into 3 hours. He repeats himself again and again, and isn’t interesting on his own. He manages to get great guests, though I have no idea as to why.

I wanna shoot myself in the head when he starts the repeating

or the “quote” button he must have right next to him that yells “HEY-O” over and over and over, and I hate the dead silence he’ll let run for 45 seconds while he shuffles papers or thinks, I hate the stupid “clone” bullshit thats just one big giant inside joke after another. BUT the man can conduct a great interview.

welCOME what is UP

I just really hate the way he speaks, with his arbitrary and unnecessary emphasis on seemingly random words and syllables.

I don’t think I’ve ever been able to stomach his style of speech long enough to find out if there’s any actual substance.

In fact, Jim Rome is how Sean Pendergast initially got in to the broadcasting profession

He was a multiple “smack-off” winner. Which is nothing more than saying that he is good at insulting others.

Pardon the link here...

But even if you’re not high on Justice, he posted a good interview with Kubiak today.

by Nashmeister on Jun 20, 2011 9:40 AM CDT reply actions

That actually was a good article, and a good interview

I guess Justice sucks at commentary, but can handle an interview. Less RJ in there is what made it good.

by MeMongo on Jun 20, 2011 10:29 AM CDT up reply actions

I'm surprised Kubiak even gave him an interview.

He must not read the paper.

I’m scared to click it, but here it goes……………………………………..

by WhiskeyR on Jun 20, 2011 10:50 AM CDT up reply actions

2 Questions in and I'm concluding its not real.

He should be more upfront about fake conversations. Reads more like what he thinks Kubiak’s responses would be, rather than an actual interview (which would have been done by Nick Scurfield and posted on the Mothership anyways).

by WhiskeyR on Jun 20, 2011 10:53 AM CDT up reply actions

I really am starting to think Kubiak watched super troopers and has replaced meow with battle

by AllenOU on Jun 20, 2011 11:11 AM CDT up reply actions

Totally fake. A typical LDJA12 stunt.

And yet, everyone seems to believe it. Unbelievable that no one has questioned this yet. Hell, I questioned it even before I clicked on it. Naturally. Just amazing how news goes nowadays. The second McClain, who has good access throughout the organization gives an obvious fact (DeMeco “told me”) everyone jumps on him like its probably not true. LDJA12 “sits down” with Kubiak in a blog post, used none of the answers for any kind of real Chron story, has never had access to anyone of interest before and never states outright where or how he hears something and suddenly everyone believes his interview is real? Its also a mile long.

Talk about poor journalistic integrity. He’s like the damn poster boy.

by WhiskeyR on Jun 20, 2011 11:26 AM CDT up reply actions

I questioned it before I read it, too.

Changed my mind about halfway through, though. If it’s truly fake, then it was some very impressive name-dropping by Justice.

by Nashmeister on Jun 20, 2011 2:02 PM CDT up reply actions

I doubt even LDJA12 and the Chronicle would go so far as to print a completely made up interview

It’s certainly presented as a “real” interview and not any kind of satire. That would represent a whole new low for the Chronicle. Even the bleacher report (sorry Jake) wouldn’t stoop so low as to run a completely fake interview without identifying it as such. OK they probably would, but they would probably pull it down when they got called on it….like they do when they got caught plagiarizing.

"If my hips had pockets, I wouldn't wear pants at all." @NotBurtReynolds

by papabear on Jun 20, 2011 3:48 PM CDT up reply actions

Wait, how is that obvious exactly?

I’m lost as to how you’re determining that this interview is fake. The only evidence I see is the title — “Let’s see what’s on Kubiak’s mind” rather than “an interview with Kubiak” or something that would usually be prefaced by “I sat down with Gary Kubiak at Reliant yesterday to discuss…”

Other than the lack of wrap-around and the title I don’t see anything that seems obviously fake. If he’s just making up fake statements from Kubiak, he did an excellent job of capturing his general tone and demeanor anyway.

true

sad but true. just wait till we get Wade’s demeanor

by southpaw70 on Jun 20, 2011 12:12 PM CDT up reply actions

He does not do a good job of capturing what Kubiak sounds like

aside from the key things already mentioned. Read through it, there are ALL KINDS of weird things Kubiak would never say. He also does not dance around issues near enough. He doesn’t mention being barred from talking about free agents when asked about FA corners (last time someone asked him, he laughed, called the the interviewer by their name, had a different demeanor to his answer all together).

After deciding this was fake, I skimmed it. I didn’t read the whole thing. It was obvious to me he did a terrible job impersonating Kubiak after the second question after years of having read and watched Kubiak interviews.

When has Kubiak EVER sat down for an interview that long with ANYONE?

by WhiskeyR on Jun 20, 2011 11:58 AM CDT up reply actions

that's true, it is unusually long.

And you make a good point about this being a blog post not an article, plus this sort of nonsense is typical of Justice. What’s really impressive though is that you were able to tell it didn’t sound like Kubiak without even reading the article! I’m impressed
