It pains me to say this but

ATL could be the landing spot. I know they don’t won’t to lose Grimes, but c’mon on now you will be getting Nnamdi to really help a team who got blown out against the packers. Plus with all the picks they gave up for Julio jones they will have extra money to spend on the best CB in the game. Where you at Mike i know you would love this.

Jerruh has to back up the Brinks Truck to try to get one last run out of that team, and their corners were miserable last year.

We DO have 2 secret weapons...

His on-the-field friendly arch-rvial AJ

AND His off-the-field Save Africa friend Amobi Okoye.

All you haters that said hewas too dedicated to using football as a platform to excel at football, well its TOTALLY worth it if he is part of Team Nnamdi.

I expect McNair, AJ, Smithiak, AND Okoye at his doorstep at 1201 on the 21st.

The team that has never made the playoffs in franchise history...is the one most likely to ever make the playoffs again. WELCOME TO HOUSTON!

Cap-wise

Tampa Bay has the most money to play with….but I can’t see it happening. Tampa Bay is young and growing….not meant to do this.

I honestly think it comes down to Baltimore and Houston. If Baltimore signs him they could win the Super Bowl next year before that defense gets too old. If Houston signs him, that window is open for 4-5 seasons. It depends on what Nnamdi wants…I voted Baltimore in the poll, but it’s a coin flip to me.

My belief is that it's desperation driving this....

Nnamdi will make anywhere from $16-19 million per season on this deal. Who is desperate enough to throw the cash at him? The team who has one last hurrah in them defensively and the team who needs to deliver something to its fanbase/save their jobs. It’s just the way I see it….desperation will open up the checkbooks.

I would think Baltimore would rather re-sign Carr and Wilson than spend big money on an older player

Neither one of them is close Nmadi, but they are both solid corners who are younger.

Philly isn't one of those teams that spends recklessly (in order to get Scrabble this off-season, you have to overpay).

Dallas is over the cap, but Jerruh will spend the money to get him.

by Joe25 on Jul 11, 2011 11:37 PM CDT up reply actions

really it depends on the cap....

and if the new CBA allows for releasing of players with out a “cap hit”…if the Rumors are true and we are looking at a 120 million cap, Dallas (by last estimates was sitting at 136 million…However that included Austins 17million first year salary, plus a few other players salary will go down….so Dallas could be at around 100-110 million….then factor in a few restructures(which would save something like 16 million…and yeah Dallas could go after Scrabble…..

Here’s a theoretical play from last year: Snap. Tony takes 7 step drop. Tony looks left at Miles, who is doubled, and looks right to where Roy Williams should be…but instead sees Colombo on his back and a Defensive End foaming at the mouth jumping over Marc’s carcass. Isn't that a lot to get done in a shortened offseason?

Seems like trying to come up with cap space by restructuring contracts would take a while.

by WhiskeyR on Jul 12, 2011 6:48 AM CDT up reply actions

Mostly the Restruturing would just be moving money around

so shouldn’t be to hard…The Biggest issue will be Doug Free and Our other FA’s….those ultimately will determine what Dallas is going to be spending in FA….

Plus why wouldn’t Scrabble take less to play across from The Island? He’d rack up interceptions cause they’d have no choice to throw in his direction cause every QB would have to pick their poison, Scrabble or The Island……

There’s 1 (2?) holes there. The Jets can simply slide Wilson up if they want. Either way, they can’t afford to tie up that much money in cornerbacks.

They drafted a corner in the first round because of Rex's reckless blitzes.

The reason Rex’s blitzes are so successful is because of 1on1 man coverage, from all the corners on the field. Wilson was the best cover corner besides Haden in the draft.

As much as I'd like to see Scrabble in steel blue, I think he winds up in Detroit.

Their secondary is a trainwreck (though a better train wreck than our own, I think) and he could make the Lions a nice dark horse contender for the NFC North; especially if you consider Suh and Fairley causing havoc in the trenches, that’d be one scary-ass defense.

I voted Houston

and my emotions and logic support it. It would be a monumental change of pace for this organization, and would provide years of potential and great mentoring on the young guys.

If we don’t get him, I really think the Steelers may nail him down with less money than he would command elsewhere for a shot at joining them for another SB next year. I hate the Steelers, but Polamalu is aging and they may dump their penny jar for a shut down corner to make one more hard push (thinking they are just one player away from winning the big game).

Teams who could probably get him at a lower price (dangling a higher probability for an SB) are: Falcons, Steelers, and Eagles.

Jets are already pushing the cap, and can’t afford Revis and Scrabble together.
Dallas is over budget already and can’t afford him.
Baltimore won’t make it to the SB with Flacco, no matter how solid the defense is.
Falcons blew their wad on Dunta and can’t afford to add more money to the CB position.
Eagles are not known for high dollar FA deals, but might get him for a lower price.

All the other teams, including Texans, will have to pay a premium for him.

So all that being said, by best guess at this in order of top three possibilities is:

Texans
Steelers
Eagles

by MeMongo on Jul 12, 2011 1:57 AM CDT reply actions

by the way

not to confuse anyone, I realize Polamalu is a safety. I’m suggesting by adding Scrabble they harden the defense and give the hair dog some support on the outside.

With the exception of Ngata and Suggs, Flacco is not surrounded by talent anywhere near what the 2000 roster had. I even have doubts they make the playoffs this year without some overhaul and damn good luck.

The #1 issue is going to be money,

you think he wanted to stay in Oakland? No, he stayed because he got a record breaking contract.

Texans

For the first time, houston is a front runner in a fa sweepstakes! I really believe s-muahh want to be an icon for a franchise and not a hired gun see prime time! Also his persona goes perfect with the houston community, he is almost thee same person as andre and that makes leads me to believe homer is here for nnamdi.

Texans With A Monster Lead In The Poll?

I fear the lockout has officially caused the fan base to break with reality.

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

I don't know about that.

I’ve maintained a very strong grip with reality during this time.

And I owe it all to my collection of singing potatoes.

The more I hear about it, the more I believe it will happen.

Even if that’s totally ludicrous, please keep the Nnamdi articles coming!

My source says this week on a deal!

I have a very good source, connected with the NFL.

I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.
