Terms of Johnathan Joseph's Contract With The Texans Released
John McClain (via our friends at Cincy Jungle) reports:
Joseph gets 5 years, $48.75 million and $23.5 guaranteed, including $12.5 signing bonus.
A lot of dough to be sure, but I'd wager it's less than what the Texans were willing to pay Nnamdi Asomugha. Your thoughts on the terms, BRB?

Can't blame Bengal fans to be down in the dumps
First Ocho and now JJ. They just lost 2 of their best players in a matter of hours. Would be like us losing DeMeco and Dre.
It took the Astros 44 years to get to the Series, the Oilers-Texans are OVERDUE to get to the playoffs, much less the big big dance...Go Texans!!!!!

and their QB would rather retire than play for them
They might be ready to move on, but still, can’t be a good feeling

hold on a sec
ocho cinco never should be compared to andre or demeco. he is the most overated player in nfl. cant run routes. quits on team. not a good comparison
Granted he is nowhere in Dre's class. That's not what I meant
was just trying to say the Bengals two of THEIR best players. They still have AJ Green at WR, but Joseph was their best CB. They have to be feeling gutted right now.

it feels good to say that and not feel like i have a battle red koolaid stain on my upper lip
The Phillips family has a chance to be Houston royalty if Wade can turn this D around as quick as i think he will. Its seems like the decision making, approach and ability of our FO has 180’d since his arrival.

it seems like we actually have a plan since he came
if he was here last year, we might not have tried that “kiddie corners” bullshit
well atleast that shit’s behind us :)

They got the 2nd best available CB for $5 Million less per year than it would have taken to sign Nnamdi
This is an excellent deal, and a sign than the Texans are going all in this year. Still need a FA safety, and a punter would be nice too, but this deal has to make Texans’ fans everywhere excited. I know it got me pumped up.
GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dawan Landry , Vonta Leach, and an UDFA punter
will all be Texans by tomorrow afternoon calling it now.

Make it Sepulveda at punter and we can all get off Smith's back for a while
Dawan Landry would look sweet in Steel Blue

This is actually pretty cheap,
considering Nnamdi is going to cost around 60-70 million.

Where
does he rank amung other conerbacks? Is he top 10? 2nd best available doesnt mean he’s on Nnamdi’s level. But I dont know much about him. Thoughts?

I'm predicting the 2011 bengals to be one the worst teams in history
They lose Palmer, jj, ocho, to, and they are going to start a rookie qb, feel bad for cincy fans

Poor Dalton
But on a serious note, can anyone give a serious estimate on what kind of cap room we have, and who left we can realistically go after and get…. Thanks!

Hard to tell
Several slots/players to fill and sign
I think we are in OK shape though

Probably just over the cap right now
but that’s fine we are mostly likely we going to trade or release Okoye so that should free up some room

Soooo
Like manning/Landry + vonta and a punter is a realistic option?
