Will Kasey Studdard Be The Texans' First IR Stash Of The Season?
From Gary Kubiak's post-game press conference: "...Kasey (Studdard) did have surgery on Friday, yesterday. I talked to him after surgery. He’s doing well. Matter fact I think he actually came home this evening. I’ll find out when I leave here. Actually Kasey’s gonna, it looks like he will not play this year. I don’t know. We’ll see, but he did have surgery and he’s well on his way to recovery."
If Studdard does get stashed then a door of opportunity opens for Shelley Smith and the rest of the young guards.
UPDATE: Per CBSSports Rapid Reports, Houston will decide Studdard's fate on Monday.

Really?
Does Kasey Studdard have to go on IR for there to be an opportunity for Shelley Smith?

I will make a prediction, that will take a long time to be proven right or wrong, I know, and I am likely wrong
Kasey Studdard has played his last down as a Texan. I am saying that with a twinge of distaste, yes, because I openly wonder why he is here in the first place. But, if he misses a whole season and as TDC stated, a door of opportunity is open for Shelley Smith or any other player to walk through; there has to be a quality other player out there that can fill Studdard’s shoes. There just has to be. Yes, Studdard has been here and he “knows” the zone-blocking system; how well is open for debate, but, there has to other players out there, over 290 LBs who are capable of watching and learning this system. Someone. Anyone.

He is out
The guy is best known for escorting Andre to the locker room. His only on the feil accomplishment. Being in someone eles shadow, and for someone so big he makes it look so easy

Nope, he has practiced one minute, therefore ineligible for PUP

I feel bad for Studdard,
but I’m really happy to see this. Sick of seeing #64 always getting his ass bull rushed on running plays.

when have you ever seen that?
i want proof, cause always see him in a texans shirt chewing gum with a headband on.
That was 2010 when he was inactive...
Largely because he was part of that terrible 2009 offensive line.
"Lord, beer me strength."
let me put it this way then
when have you really seen him suited up on gameday? seem like everyweek he was on the inactives list.
you want me to shoot you now or later?
does words should never come on this blog. kasey studdard a starter.
Yes. Ahhh brings me back.
“They can’t win”! “It’s a losing culture”! “They will never be anything more than losers”! Et cetera.
Good times.
We weren't
Between him, Myers’ high ankle sprain, a horrendous year for Leach and Slaton…..it was obvious why the team struggled to gain a yard multiple times.
"Lord, beer me strength."
It was last year in preseason.
The Texans 2nd team offense was on and the Cardinals 2nd team D was on. It was a stretch play to the left, and it failed miserably because Studdard got pushed back by a good 5-10 yards. Whoever the Texans RB was on that play had to cutback and run into a NT for a 5 yard loss.
There’s many other occasions like that one. He’s either pretty good, or he’s flat out terrible.

Wasn't that the... I can't quite bring myself to say it...
Wasn’t that the play where Tate suffered the injury?
you might be right.
i recall a play where somebody got pushed back and slaton had to try and jump over the lineman, but the lineman was getting back up at the same time.
Not trying to contradict you...
But Studdard is the most important guy on the team. He is a role model for the other lineman and helps to keep them in check. He is the enforcer. If they screw up, he jumps their asses. Yes, even the starters. He is very intelligent and a great communicator. I think he will make a superb lineman coach one day.
And yes, I just made all of that up. I like to sound like I know what I’m talking about when I really don’t know shit. Makes life interesting.
Please tell me that was sarcasm...

"I really don't know shit"
That part was not sarcasm…..
The rest, especially, “Makes life interesting,” that was just bullshit. The sarcasm part was secondary and came into play when you questioned if it was sarcasm. Peckerwood is a complicated guy with complicated humor.

Also OT, but Texans
I’m liking the looks of the Texans pass rush right now. It is raw, instinctual, and aggressive. I’m just hoping that Wade does teach too much. Do you know what I mean? Right now, the pass rush is coming without too much thinking and that is effective. You start teaching these guys too much, to stay here, develop this, whatever; now, instead of just going for it, they are thinking about it and possibly losing that burst that is putting them over the edge.
Just a thought that was bouncing around in my noggin. Did you hear that hollow echo sound?

Antonio Smith made a comment after Saturday's game
He said how there was a lot of guys, competing, to get to the QB. Like it’s a friendly team-wide competition. That’s what I thought I heard when he said that. I hope that’s what it is. I want to see these guys competing, racing to the QB!

Shouldn’t you be putting out a Feature Post on this topic, soon?
I keed!

I said this after visiting camp but.....
C. Studdard looked terrible. He looked like he didn’t want to be there. He got bull rushed and ran over every time out. He looked flabby and out of shape. He should not be on the team. The family of a friend UT man love needs to stop.

He may if they have questions about Tate or Ward's health before the end of preseason
At the very least they throw him back on the practice squad if he clears waivers
