Vikings 28, Texans 0
Well, that was certainly an arse-kicking. Granted, your Houston Texans did not play any of their starters, and there were some bright spots (Bryant Johnson, Garrett Graham, Tim Jamison, and Matt Leinart, to name a few), so it wasn't all for naught. Lest you think this game was somehow unlike the rest of the Texans' preseason, I offer you one nugget of consistency: Houston's special teams were once again very poor.
In the final analysis, however, tonight's game doesn't have much, if any, bearing on what your Houston Texans will do once the games start to count in ten days. In the meantime, share your thoughts and impressions in the Comments below as we await the final cut down to what'll be the Texans' 53-man roster.

Keo is gone IMO.
Jeff and Toliver are gone to along with Townsel. Anthony Hill may be gone.
Prediction: 11-5 AFC South champions.
Think Kubiak will stash Maehl & Toliver on the Practice Squad?

Man that was bad...
Keo was out of position arm tackling the same way he did in the Jets game. Guess what that got him, a solid ass chewing by Phillips from the sideline. I bet he doesnt get a word said to him tonight. Just a red card two days from now…

Tend To Agree
Though Dorin hasn’t really shown enough to warrant the faith they’re likely to show in him.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...
Slaton will be cut by saturday
Wish we could at least get a draft pick for him tho
They just kept
waiting and waiting, hoping he would heal up. I think you go with the youth. Let slaton go because in a way he doesnt seem to see the creases in the zone scheme like the other backs do. At least Chris O sees the creases sometimes and makes some inside reads. Slaton the more i think about it bounced outside and had the breakaway speed to gain his yards. Plus, we only had 3 seasons to evaluate him so i could be wrong. The nerve problem might have really been the cause of him not seeing the hole, fumbling the ball being absolutely terrible.

Please, please no Bryant Johnson
I’m begging here I am. He’s an awful football player.
@Toolshed1: I think Tate has much to prove. He’s only played in a couple of pre-season games, just a handful of rushes overall, and ALL of them against second teamers or worse. Just my opinion. I should add (so as to not sound like an asshole) that I truly appreciate YOUR opinion.

"IF" somehow they keep Holliday
I suspect by the Ravens game (if Holliday is not already on IR again) that during the coin toss ceremony Ray Lewis is going to sneeze so hard (from across the field) that Kareem falls down and lands on Holliday severely disfiguring him and putting him back on IR.
He did
But was he targeted more on purpose because he is a new pickup?
That is my thinking. Bryant still looked better, but I think he was focused upon too.

It's a sample size issue
Bryant has a lot of seasons of suck. Multiple cuts. We’ll do the same thing. I’d rather work with what we have and have higher end talent (Dorin, Maehl, etc.) filling those 4 and 5 holes. Bryant has proven to suck. One game of three catches doesn’t change my mind.

Fair enough
I just think the Dickerson love from Texans fans is kind of silly. The same people saying they’re tired of hearing about Jacoby’s potential are the same ones saying keep Dickerson for his ceiling.
It might have something to do
with him being even rawer while simultaneously having a higher ceileng(I think). And where we bitching about Jacoby before his 2nd season had even started?
I'm sure every team in every sport
has a guy like that. I might be exagerating a bit, but probably not by much.

I've seen nothing from Dorin that suggest he has "higher end" talent. Except combine numbers.
As a#4 option Bryant is a decent WR to fill the void until we draft a talented WR who played the position full time in college and when Jean gets off IR.
Prediction: 11-5 AFC South champions.
Bryant last year

Well he did average 26 yards per KR which is by far the best we've had all presesaon.
Guess we’ll have to see if the coaches felt that was enough from him. he did look really nice on the catch he had. Kubiak does want to try and use him as a weapon so he may have shown just enough to stay on the roster.
Prediction: 11-5 AFC South champions.
Truthfully, I think WR is the wrong spot for him
I think he’d be better as a RB in shotgun plays. Speed wise, he’d be a massive mismatch against LBs

LSU used him at WR and RB.

That's an adequate excuse I guess.
But he’s been here 2 years with little to show that’ he’s ever going to be the future star some think he’s going to be. Bryant only had barely a week of time with the team and already looks better than Dorin has at any time he’s been here.
Lets be honest. Dorin is a 7th round draft pick who was a TE in college. He played more games as an OLB (26) at PITT than he did at WR (8). All his hype is based of combine numbers which don’t mean anything to me. Especially the 40 yard dash. He’s just not a WR right now.
Hell even Jef Maehl has shown to have more potential as a WR than Dorin has. Even with that drop on 4th down he can make those tough catches and as a #5 WR he’d be decent. Going forward he might develop into a nice slot guy like Welker.
Prediction: 11-5 AFC South champions.

He’s far worse than Jacoby on drops. He’s a horrible route runner, and he’s allegedly bad in the locker room. I don’t give two shits about my last point, but I do care about the first two. I’ll bet we cut him halfway through the season if we keep him now.

Our linemen look like that because
they are actually our 4th stringers and street signers. Our second string is still pretty banged up so our 3’s were actually our 2’s tonight. Im praying our O-line gets healthy because we cant afford to be putting pemberton and newton were terrible. Its no wonder Leinert couldnt put it in the endzone. He was getting hit on 3 every snap. Poor Yates had to deal with worse than that so i discredit his fumble from him and leave it solely on that right tackle that got destroyed right back into Yates’ waiting arms…

He was invisible last night!
I don’t see his name anywhere on the stat sheet (though I didn’t watch the game).

That's because you were up to your eyeballs in a buffet!
I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.
SO in short, the takeaway from last night is........
NO INURIES TO STARTERS PLEASE.
The disparity between our backups and starters is fairly epic…..
I haz a sad.

Not necessarily backups, but future unemployed football players

Speaking of which
Who wants to take multiple stabs at a 53-man roster?

Absurd prediction:
We carry only 4 WR and just use guys like Casey and Daniels in our 4 or 5 wide sets.
Prediction: 11-5 AFC South champions.
On an unrelated note...
San Diego played a bunch of their defensive starters. Weird.
So did KC.
Because of the shortened offseason some teams wanted to play their starters more. I know SD’s defense has had some issues the past couple weeks.
I know the reason the Chiefs HC did was because that’s what teams did with the shortened season of 1987 so he gave it a shot. We’ll see if it gives them an advantage or not.
Prediction: 11-5 AFC South champions.
Turning the page to Game 1
The Indy QB situation and yes, I’m a Texans fan, but…. if Indy trots out Kerry Collins in Game 1…. I expect Wade Phillips to treat him like the washed-up, over-the-hill, past-his-prime, weak-armed, wobbly-legged, new-to-the-system, has-been that he really is; and send the blitz crashing down on top of him like there’s no tomorrow.
I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.

I hope Wade does that
No matter who starts at qb for the Colts.

Still don't know what his issue is.
Bad route-running, perhaps? He has all the tools to succeed. Really wish he could have hung on another year to work out the kinks. Some team that hucks jump balls to receivers in the end-zone might get a pretty productive player…
Steelers
Hey, he went to Pitt, so it’s not that much of a stretch

I thought Jets because I don't know of a QB more likely to "huck" balls than Sanchez
Just a observation of mine.
