If not for two 60+ kick returns this would be a blowout right now.

Cuts

The 53 we’ll have at the end of tomorrow won’t be the 53 we have a couple days after. I think we’ll be aggressive signing help at LB, OL, and WR.

Do we have any idea what made Smithiak pick up Andrew Gardner?

aka quikkag

by knave64 on Sep 2, 2011 9:30 PM CDT up reply actions

and as for WRs

I actually think we don’t pick up any WRs. I think the team is sufficiently satisfied with Andre Johnson, Kevin Walters, Jacoby Jones, and Bryant Johnson. With the receiving talent we have at TE/FB and the formations we can show and shift to, I would be surprised to see the Texans put 4 WRs on the field simultaneously at any time this season.

At worst

We’ll be looking for PS help. I still think – and there’s no use trying to argue differently with me because it ain’t gonna work :-) – there’s no way we can be happy with Bryant Johnson. Absolutely one of the worst WRs in football the past couple of years.

Smithiak doesn't always agree with you and me

I was surprised with the IRing of Lestar Jean. Surely that shoulder injury isn’t that serious. Bryant looked decent in that appalling embarassment that took place last night in the Metrodome. I can’t imagine who will become available that the team would like better than Bryant J.

Still not sure what the big deal is about the #4 WR.

That position is practically useless in this offense.

It’s like getting into a huge debate about who should be the #4 RB if we were to keep one.

I’d be surprised if Bryant caught more than 15 passes this year. Casey’s receiving numbers will eclipse the numbers any #4 WR would get here regardless of who we signed.

Prediction: 11-5 AFC South champions.

Yeah I saw it. Most of those guys aren’t going to be here.

As far as RB goes. Foster’s hammy is the thing to worry about. If he comes back healthy then he Ward and Tate will be plenty good as our RB’s.

Although our OLine could use a couple second team replacements.

I don’t post all the time but i will keep putting this on here. TO would be money on the texans. He will block in the running game, he will force teams to not triple/double Andre. Say what you want but he would not be a distraction on a one year deal. Or I say we sign Andy Fantuz….who you say?? Lead the CFL in receptions, yardage. Most oustanding canadian award. He even got his own cereal in canada. Fantuz Flakes. Anyone know who else got their own cereal from the CFL?? Doug Flutie!!! But seriously Andy was a champ for my saskatchewan roughriders. That's what Bengals fans said.
Say what you want but he would not be a distraction on a one year deal.

But seriously the fallacy that Andre wouldn’t get doubled with “a better WR” opposite him just doesn’t hold water with me.

He’s had back to back 1500 yard seasons here and has averaged 90+ yards per game four straight years.

Instead of wasting time with a WR well over 30 coming off ACL surgery we should be looking for more pieces on defense. We could use depth at ILB and in other spots in the front 7. And perhaps a fourth safety because depth their is thin right now.

I am not saying I am in favor of TO ( I am not based on his track record) but we will never make it with Walter and JJ if he does… do you wait until it happens or be proactive? Yeh, sorry for the long story, but I always get a kick out of how Charlie cuts of callers and turns the conversation into something about himself and how much he knows about the subject

So, usually, callers let him go on and on and when Charlie is done, then the caller can actually get in their question and their opinion on the subject. It’s funny!

I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.

Pretty Cool

MDC deserves the pub; that was a great post.

I remember listening to 1560 when someone called in about DreKeem’s post concerning recovery from an Achilles injury last year,. too.

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

lulz...

I read that as “HiGH?”

"Suck it, Jim Tressel, you filthy, cheating, unfashionable piece of monkey scrotum."

"Let’s leave all the football talk to knowledgeable experts who have played the game, like Matt Millen and Emmitt Smith."
