Ask CSC: This Time it Counts Edition
So the last time I made this here post, it was pre season. The Saints got their asses handed to them, with Saints fans rocking back and forward in the corner saying "Vanilla, vanilla" over and over again.
However, the result of that game doesn't count. This time, it does. DUN DUN DUN. You all know how this works, ask a question about the Saints or about the Texans to get an outsider opinion. Afterwards I, or someone much smarter than me, will come by to answer your questions and may try to convert you to his holiness, Breesus Christ.
I hope you guys enjoyed that last joke, since Andre Johnson is likely to kill me for speaking blasphemy against him. It might even look something like this:

Please rec this post to keep it up until after game day, at which point, you may take your rec back if you like. However, it's condition is not guaranteed.

Drew Brees is in decline, but he is trying to deny it by throwing for 6 TD’s, 0 INT’s and over 600 yards in his first two games this year.
I still don’t see the decline, but it could be the Purple Drank and Juicy Fruit (inside CSC joke) talking.

How potent is Houston's offense without Foster
and what game plan do you think they will use offensively if he is unable to play?
Not much of a drop off, if any...
Tate if filling in well. Both games have been 100+ yards for him
The redzone offense hurts without him.
With all do respect to Tate he’s not the same threat there Foster is. You probably saw that in the preseason game. 4 straight Foster runs in the redzone and a TD. He led the league last year for a reason.
Prediction: 11-5 AFC South champions.
Foster is a lot more elusive than Tate is
But our line gives RBs holes to run through and Tate seems to be hitting them well. The offense still has Andre and a cohort of talented TEs (Daniels, Dreesen and the TE/FB Casey) that provide a lot of options. Schaub hasn’t really gotten going yet this season, but he’s been solid and we can definitely move the ball through the air. Tate is enough of a threat to keep our play action and bootlegs threatening.
I don’t think the game plan will really change at all whether or not Foster plays.
Tate is a good alternative...
But after rewatching the last game, I’m amazed at how Foster just seems to glide to the right hole and then explode through it.
Some of that is vision, some of it is good decision making and some of it is just quickness.
However, Tate is a bruiser and while we haven’t seen him break one off yet, it is my understanding that he has “take it to the house” speed.
It’ll be interesting to see.
"Suck it, Jim Tressel, you filthy, cheating, unfashionable piece of monkey scrotum."
- MDC
"Because this is a blog and I’m an argumentative bastard." - tehGrindCrusher
The difference between Foster & Tate's running styles
is that Foster makes subtle cuts to either avoid contact or keep it to a minimum while still moving forward, whereas Tate doesn’t avoid contact but rather tends to drive through it

Drew hits 8-10 receivers every game. His favorite receiver is the open receiver. If we start having multiple WR’s miss games the passing game may start to suffer.

Here's a question.
What’s your biggest weakness?
Andre Johnson will kick you ass right?
Ben Tate is going to run all over you right?
/Tim ;)
Now to a real question, What’s your favorite and most hated part about the Saints team?
.................
Ha Ha Ha
Biggest weakness=Linebacking corp is not athletic as a whole. Poor tackling is an increased concern but seems to be getting better.
Johnson=this is gonna be the major problem imo. It all depends on QB pressure. If our blitzes are picked up and Johnson is 1 on 1 we are screwed.
Tate=I’m really not worried about Tate. I think our run defense will be a point of emphasis in this game and we will try to make a statement early. Then again if the poor tackling shows its ugly head again, it could be a long day.
Favorite: Breesus of course. He seems to be playing like it’s a contract year. Oh, thats right it is.
Hated: Have to go back to poor tackling. I can’t count how many times we could have had plays that could have been stuffed in the backfield and have ended up turning into a big gain. I believe Greg Williams won’t continue to put up with this and people will start to get benched if it continues.

The first part was mainly a joke.
During the pre-game recon with The Phinsiders someone over there was complaining that Tim’s questions were all about how we were going to kick their ass. So I was making a joke about it.
Poor tackling is something we have had the misfortune of seeing a lot last year. It is surprising to see Pros who have played football their whole life tackling like idiots.
.................
and there was no reason to think we could compete with the Dolphins anyway

After Watching Both Games
I just Spend my entire work day, not working. Instead I enjoyed the Game Rewind Feature being offered Free this week. The Saints had a good running game, that lived on the outside. Running off tackles and getting to the second level on a regular basis. This game is going to be Physical. Both QB’s will see the turf, there is no doubt about it. Matt Forte had a good day(Sunday), and he doesn’t have the WR corps to take pressure off him, that Tate and Foster enjoy. So my Question to you is. What kind of adjustments will be made to stop the Running Back catching balls out of the backfield? Will it allow Johnson/Jones to be open downfield? (As he always seems to be)
Apparently, bleach has an act like an asshole effect.
Being Insane I would know, I am a Texans Fan.
Wade Aid pass it around, 3rd helping on the way.
I have absolutely no answer to this but I hope Greg Williams does
Other than maybe Casillas, our linebackers cannot cover anyone it seems. We have tried using SS Roman Harper and he might even have more issues covering than our linebackers. So maybe I should shoot this question back to u and let u tell me what we should do cuz I have no clue.

If your linebackers can't cover
Then you could be in trouble, because we have about 7,092 tight ends who can catch the ball and we use them in the most amazing ways.

If we can stop you within our 30 yard line….absolutely nothing. Like you said, Matt Forte had a good day, and we held them to 3 points in the second half. I doubt there will be very much emphasis on the dumpoff pass especially if our corners decide to show up and play good coverage

I hope they can’t stop the Texans, other then get up early and put the pass rush on, similar to the Bears game. Then again the Texans are better suited for a Pass-a-Thon in compared to the Bears. I am excited about this weekend.

Jacoby is anywhere from the 3rd to the 6th option in the passing game depending on personnel.
It wouldn’t surprise me if he made a noticeable impact but I’m not really counting on it.

I was totally surprised that Jacoby Jones was like . . . nearly 100% useful

I have zero confidence in our ability to stop any run against a team with good receivers. But hopefully the return of Will Smith will force more runs that way and more predictable playcalling

Do you feel pretty confident about the Saints’ ability to stop runs up the gut?
I’m hoping to see consistency from the D. Last week against the Bears they gave up a 50 yard run to Forte then contained him the rest of the day. We held the
Bears to 60 yds rushing which was huge. We hope to see that again this Sunday but you never know.
That's interesting. You know what makes me sad? YOU DO!!! Maybe we should chug on over to mambypandyland...or maybe we can find some self confidence for you YA JACKWAGON!!!!!!
(tears) Tissue?.....Crybaby.
I don't have a question
but I think this is going to be the toughest game of the year for us (Texans).
And you don't think the Steelers or Ravens would be a tougher challenge?

Depends
On if you can get the Steelers from week 1 to show up and the Ravens from week 2 to show up. :)

Not really
If we can get a pass rush to Rapelisberger it’ll be no big deal. Last year we had the Ravens completely worn out, too. A better D and it wouldn’t have even been in OT.
I’m not saying we win those games, those are the other most difficult games on the schedule, but I’m far more worried about this one.
Is NO ONE else worried about Atlanta?

I'm sure we will be, but no one is thinking about it right now.
It’s too far off and we are all thinking of Baltimore, Pittsburgh and the Saints.
.................
Your list should read
Saints, Steelers, Raiders,Ravens. Never take a week fore granted, Have we learned nothing from last year?

We can't afford to sleep on anyone
Thanks Durga we didn’t sleep on the Manningless-Colts, a loss there would have been disastrous.
What makes them more dangerous
is that they may have the best running game we’ll see all season, plus a number of deep threats to stretch the defense out

Oh yeah, I did overlook them...
Kind of proves my point, this is a 4 week gauntlet so Atlanta is just not being looked at yet.

We are, but I will tell you now, we aren't trying to look past this weeks game.

Ive lurked for awhile and finaly jumped into the mix last week. It would seem that us texans fans have a rather….nice relationship with saints fans. I would say its better then anyone else in the league.

I'm about to post some relevent tweets.
Canal Street Chronicles-A place of great Saints news and information. Oh and the stuff I write!
Bring back Aaron Brooks! He's the only one who can save us from the evil that is Drew Brees!!
wwltvsports WWL-TV Sports
Payton on Brees: “"I’d say he’s playing at a very high level. You start with protecting the ball. He’s doing that very well.”
garlandgillen Garland Gillen
Payton playing the “one game at a time” card with Texans game, not even thinking about three road games coming up. Focusing on home turf.
wwltvsports WWL-TV Sports
#Saints Payton on Houston: “They’ve gotten off to a real good start and are playing with a lot of confidence, deservedly so.”
Official_Saints New Orleans Saints
When a reporter reminded Brees he hasn’t thrown a INT this season, Brees knocked on presser table #NoJinx
wwltvsports WWL-TV Sports
Brees on Texans: I do know that they’re a team that feels like they have a great opp., this year maybe more than any, to make a run at it.
LHolderCBS Larry Holder
When asked if he’s on a hot streak, Drew Brees said there was still plenty left out on the field and his game still isn’t where it should be
wwltvsports WWL-TV Sports
Brees on 3-4 D: “Typically what comes w/ that is a diff. front & a lot more press., just the way they’re able 2 bring it with everybody.”
garlandgillen Garland Gillen
Brees remembers the passing yardage for the #Texans first two games last year, recalled outcomes also. He’s sharp on any topic.
garlandgillen Garland Gillen
Brees says #Texans Mario Williams doing the same things as last year, only difference is standing up now in 3-4 defense.
garlandgillen Garland Gillen
Brees giving high praise to Texans DC Wade Phillips. Says QBs around the league have a lot of respect for him.
wwltvsports WWL-TV Sports
Brees on #Saints’ red zone efficiency (Started 1 of 5, 3 of 9 now): “We’re starting to turn that number around but it needs to improve.”
garlandgillen Garland Gillen
Over/Under on Saints-Texans game is an eye-popping 53 points.
wwltvsports WWL-TV Sports
RT @MattPomPom: The Texans have not trailed at any point in their last 3 games. That is the NFL’s longest current streak w/o trailing.

The Bottom two
The scary thing about the Over/Under, I wouldn’t touch it. Awesome I guess, It would be a more telling Stat if the last game was for more then pride.

meh, you never know though
I’ve seen games that were touted as shootouts end up 13-10 or something. Both the Saints and Texans (I can’t believe I’m saying this) have pretty good D’s, so it should be a good game either way.
This is totally off-topic,
but I hope our run D starts shoring up it’s weaknesses, because if we played the Raiders this week, I would expect a hard effing game.
Thank God for football!

are y'all hoping Jonathan Joseph stays on the bench this Sunday?
Personally, I want him to get healthy we’ll need him further down in the season. But wow it was scary how bad the Texans secondary was without him there.
Just thought I’d ask what the Saints fans think =)

How would you rate Bushrod's and Strief's performances so far? Susceptible to any certain pass rush moves?

Though in preseason, Strief seemed to handle Mario pretty well.
Of course, Mario was still getting used to standing up and the game meant absolutely nothing. However, Antonio Smith made Bushrod his bitch by putting him in the, what is now called, the contact search position.
