BRB: Transactions and NCAA Open Thread 9/4
Today should be rife again with signing, cuts, and possibly trades from around the NFL. Heck, we don't even have a punter right now. Might Gary Kubiak finally be adopting the Madden time-tested never punt strategy? We can only hope! Also, too, there's another generous helping of college football to keep us entertained. Leave it all in the comments.

Max Jean-Gilles Scouting Report – Scouts, Inc.
Grade: 66 | Key
Comment: Jean-Gilles is an average athlete and is best in a confined area. He has natural power but isn’t an explosive blocker. He has strong hands and a solid punch. He lacks lateral quickness and agility to react well to stunts and counters. He locks on and stays connected well on initial blocks but can get exposed on the second level.

In other words, we have no use for him.
That reads like a “Why the Texans wouldn’t want this guy” spiel
I don't know how taken the Texans are with Bryant Johnson...
But there are a handful of receivers out there I’d love for them to take a look at. The short list:
Donnie Avery – coming off a (major?) knee injury, but a former second round pick with a high ceiling. He’s a little small, but if healthy, he can fly.
Mardy Gilyard – probably still a project at this point.
Johnnie Lee Higgins – classic Al Davis speed pick, but he has had success returning kicks and punts.
And of course, the aforementioned Anderson. He was a cap casualty, so it’s not like he was cut loose because of any glaring shortcomings as a #4 or #5 receiver.

could be wrong but....
I thought Conan did it first. I wouldnt be apposed to DA comin back. He was usually clutch. If not him I like Brandon Tate (Pats). He has Kickoff Return Exp. Get Manning on D full time. I’d Also like to snatch up Igor (cowboys)cuz he has knowledge of Wades system. I would wanna grab Merryweather (Pats)but we have 3 good safeties now and thats just crazy to think we would lood there. HB Blades (skins)or bring back Bently for ILB depth over Dobbins. I don’t know alot of OG’s but know Newton is gonna be PS so we need someone there. I’d grab that punter that Pittsburgh cut Kapinos, he had a 49yd average this preseason. Not sure whats going on with ROC so maybe Nathan Vasher? But mostly I’d move Mitchel to starter and replace Cody with a set of saw horses or any of the following…John Mcargo (ties with Mario and Reggie Herring) maybe that can revive something in him, Derek Simmons (ravens)Tommie Harris (hes gotta be better than Cody), I’d even say bring back Deljuan Robinson, Maybe even Tank Tyler at least we know he’s packin heat.

So I missed out yesterday evening (barhopping)
Slaton and Braman made the team? So 4 RBs. We only have 4 WRs and we have no punter? Any word on getting DA?
It feels weird to have a long snapper but no punter.

For breakfast? Not a bad choice.
We’re going to be completely unstoppable with the depth we have at long snapper!
Here's the real test
If you are gonna drink a Guinness for breakfast, which is a great way to start the day, you have 2 options: Drink it cold like any red-blooded american or go hardcore and drink it hot and straight from a tap head and all. It’s just a question of how far are you willing to go?
Ummm. A tap stout and a sausage egg and cheese croissant...
…remember it well. DC Cook NPGS in Michigan, years ago while working night shift. Head to the bar just offsite for breakfast. Body couldn’t take it now. I must of had the constitution of a horse back then.

Interestingly, in England you can order it extra cold from the tap.
The Problem with Guinness for breakfast is that you’d have to drink it out of a can, go to a bar for breakfast, or have a beergas setup on your kegerator. I’m going to settle for a Belgian Wit since its all I have on tap right now.
I’m brewing a chocolate stout today though. That should make for a fine weekend breakfast beer.
How long before you are sipping that Choco-Stout for breakfast?
I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.
Likely a month
But I’ve got a Hefeweizen, Amber Ale and Oktoberfest all in the pipeline ready before then. None of them sound very good for breakfast though.
I disagree
Hefeweizen is great for breakfast
Capt. Nately: You're a shameful opportunist! What you don't understand is that it's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.
Old man in whorehouse: You have it backwards. It's better to live on your feet than to die on your knees. I know.
-Catch 22-
However, the Choco-Stout will be worth waiting for
Maybe, that should be designated for breakfast only, LOL! Or, to accompany a Filet Mignon with gorgonzola cream sauce.
I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.
That would really be something
Keeping a breakfast beer on tap. Its just so hard to not pour a pint after work though! But I have 3 taps so maybe…

I have been trying and trying to find Jester King beers on tap here in Houston. Sometimes Flying Saucer has them, but I always end up missing out. Its rare here. One day I will drink me a Black Metal Stout.
512 has possibly the worst Belgian Wit I’ve ever tasted, though I want to believe it was a one off bad experience, because how do you fuck up a Belgian Wit? I like their black IPA though.

IMO
We should grab this kid. He was a first rounder. He is small for the traditional DE role. We dont drop our OLB’s alot. Yes we have Mario, Barwin, Reed and a promising Braman. But Mario is not under contract and there is no gurantee he will even like this system or wanna stay here next year. I hope he does, I love the guy (no homo). But Brooks is a rookie so who really knows. Barwin is coming off injury and I know from experiance they always have a tendency to flare up out of nowhere. AND you can never have enough quality pass rushers. I’m sure he will have a chip on his shoulder too….
