Good deal

IDK why they cut him in the first place, he has always seemed like a quality back up in the past

They cut him so they could do something with him

I’ll let you guess what that is

I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.

Yeah, baby. Really happy to see Nading continue in Battle Red.

I don't see how this is possible.
A player cannot participate on the practice squad for more than three seasons, or if he has accrued a year of NFL experience (six or more games on a club’s 53-man active roster or official Injured Reserve list.) If the player was on the active list for fewer than 9 games during their “only Accrued Season(s)”, he maintains his eligibility for the practice squad.

Nading had 6, 1, and 5 games in his three seasons. So … uh … wtf?

by MDC on Sep 6, 2011 9:27 PM CDT reply actions

This is why we are here

and not working in the NFL offices

by Biggity B on Sep 6, 2011 9:30 PM CDT up reply actions

Yup.

Too much goddamned logic around here.

Practice Squad Eligibility

- Three or fewer seasons on the PS
- 1 year of accrued NFL experience (6+ games on the 53-man roster or IR list)
- If that 1 year of accrued NFL experience is less than 9 games then he’s eligible.

"Lord, beer me strength."

by TexansDC on Sep 6, 2011 9:38 PM CDT up reply actions

That leaves a 3 game gap huh?

6+ games is considered 1 year, unless its less than 9???? Why not save the confusion and just make it 9 games to be considered 1 year?

by Its Gonna Happen on Sep 6, 2011 9:42 PM CDT via mobile up reply actions

It's got to be 9 games per accrued season

I had to squint to understand that after we signed Trindon Holliday to the PS (and I have to squint even harder to determine “why??”).

I’m reading it like this:

Nading was on the active list for less than 9 games, all three times. So he remains eligible.

by WhiskeyR on Sep 6, 2011 9:36 PM CDT up reply actions

Holliday is the one that makes no sense for sure

He was on injured reserve…

My only guess is that it means IR after they make the 53-man roster…and that being put on IR before that cut down doesn’t count. Technicality FTW

I can't say otherwise, so you do win

I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.

by Rip Jersey on Sep 6, 2011 9:44 PM CDT up reply actions

I took IR to mean he was active for less than 9 games

Like, if he was put on IR in week 10 after being active, he’d not be eligible.

by WhiskeyR on Sep 6, 2011 10:00 PM CDT up reply actions

AH...

that makes more sense. The way the stuff I copied reads, it looks like once you hit 9 games TOTAL, you’re ineligible.

by MDC on Sep 7, 2011 11:23 AM CDT up reply actions

Maybe he read it?

The NFL likely has some super database of players

and can tell any manager in a second if a player is eligible or not.

Surely they have that, right?

He also said in an interview that he had gotten a little interest I believe from the Bengals.

He also said he may be converting to an H-back.

in unrelated news:

I was perusing the NFL.com for Texans news and saw the article that Adibi went to the vikings after being cut. I was about to leave when I saw some Vike’s fans all but freaking out about how they got this special player and what a steal it was and how he was gonna come in and compete for the starting job. I had to say something. I kept it civil while announcing that Adibi is a bit undersized, gets blown up, looks lost, and is while he can cover to an extent, is inconsistent. (my opinions).

Sadly a fellow Texans fan came on after me and stood up for him, making me look like a trolling dick. I questioned his sanity, but decided best to clarify a few points before retreating. If the Vikings think Adibi will save them, then may God have mercy on them.

Thank God for football!

I think you're exaggerating a bit there.

Looks like you went out of your way to rip Adibi. As a 4-3 OLB I think he will be a good fit for the Vikings. He was solid here playing in the middle this preseason but he’s a better player on the outside. He really didn’t fit here since he wasn’t really big enough to play on the outside in this 3-4 but I think he’ll be good in a rotation for the Vikings at OLB.

A change of scenery may do him wonders.

Prediction: 11-5 AFC South champions.

by Ethan Matz on Sep 7, 2011 11:58 AM CDT up reply actions

not everyone in the NFL is a good football player! he certainly didn't do us many favors here, and I passed on my opinion there.

He played outside in our 4-3 and was constantly in Gary’s Doghouse. It’s not that I don’t want him to succeed, but their elation with picking up a fringe player seemed out of context. thats like us crapping our pants collectively for picking up Andrew Gardner (which we didn’t). if I said “Aaron Rodgers is a very accurate QB who wins games in the clutch and is very hard to stop” is that living up on ARodg. or is it stating facts? I didn’t feel I ripped Adibi, but merely told the truth about him. either way, it’s inconsequential now that he’s no longer a part of the team.

Thank God for football!

by BattleRedHusker on Sep 7, 2011 1:44 PM CDT up reply actions

semantics, but...

Everyone in the NFL is a good football player. They wouldn’t be there if they weren’t. They are just not all good NFL level players.

Remember…Petey Faggins and Zac Diles were considered absolute studs at K-state. In the NFL, they were marginal talents at best.

Regarding Nading,

Dare I say it that our FO has actually gained wisdom from somewhere. Could they have actually figured out that even though he is a little ahead of Braman, to most everyone else, he is just a guy. Braman however, flashed awesome upside, great special teams, and more than a few teams would have taken a flyer on a minimum wage guy who could develop into something special going forward. Love this guy’s athleticism, speed up the field. Really like the mind set this year by the FO. Cutting dead weight with the eye on the now, and the future.

meaningful football games in '08...MAKE THAT 09, okay 10, definitely 10..i am an excellent driver...2011 = defense > awful.

Hope so.

When they’re dealing with a guy who needs two others to get injured to even get on the field, I’d certainly hope they’d go with the higher-upside player.
