Wow, I’ve seen some pretty generalizations before. Teams, team fan bases, etc but now entire divisions? That’s nuts.
This is the problem with the Flacco hate, people don’t really know who he is as a person. - Mr. Malor. Crazy Raven fan/possible stalker.
Not a generalization
I’ve had experience with all 4 fan bases, and all 4 are eerily simliar. I’ve heard nothing but Cold weather makes southern teams play like shit, Domes are stupid, we play against run first good defenses’ twice a year, we play in the best division in football. Bla Bla Bla
Yet when you have 4 teams that close together, their fans tend to be simliar cloth
True arrogance has been displayed here- WestministerRavensfan or something

I didn't think the Bengals fans were that bad either.
Maybe a bit big-headed if you want to call it that. To me it wasn’t arrogance, it was a fanbase that was desperate for success.
Browns fans weren’t too bad either, just depressed. Kind of like Texans fans in the David Carr era.
Steelers fans are another story. What a terrible bunch of people they were.
GET A SILK BAG FROM THE GRAVEYARD DUCK TO LIVE LONGER.
I assure you, the feeling is mutual. Actually I can’t say that. There were a few jerkoffs from your board, I don’t generalize entire groups off of a few of their members.
All season, every week was fine except two. You guys and the Browns. That is one fan base I can generalize. Miserable bunch of (additional adjectives)
Can I get some hot sauce for my doughnut?
I am generalizing, yes.
There were a few Steelers fans that seemed decent enough, but it was hard to separate them from the jackasses. That whole week was really ugly for both fanbases. I didn’t partake in any of what went on, but it was the first (and hopefully only) time I actually felt embarrassed to be part of this community. Things were blown way out of proportion on both sides, and no one seemed to want to be the bigger man.
Whatever the case may be, I apologize for generalizing that way. Every fanbase has their rotten apples. It seemed that both of ours were out in force that week, and it left a really bad taste in the mouths of people here (and I assume at the Steelers blog too).
GET A SILK BAG FROM THE GRAVEYARD DUCK TO LIVE LONGER.
no need for apologies. It’s difficult to not generalize, it’s only natural. Even though I try not to, there’s nothing I can do about the Browns board. Cheering for serious injuries, cheering harder for a team they hate to lose than they do their own team to win, etc.
Agreed about Steeler/Texans week, very ugly, and yes, embarrassing. I played my part in that as well. I didn’t really like the way a couple of our members were being attacked constantly by a group of your members. Alas, a lesson was learned, (then forgotten for a week before the first Browns game)
But yeah, I find that there are some good people at almost every blog I’ve been to, as well as some d-bags.
More importantly though, good luck tomorrow (today)

Second Note
It was you who said it.
When it’s all said and done,
I think that us, at home, with a bye week to rest our players and prepare our gameplan, will be too much for them. I do respect the Texans—particularly their front office which put them in a position to survive a major injury to a key player in Schaub. But the key facts, in my opinion are:
1) Rookie QBs don’t have good outings in Baltimore, ever.
2) We know we can control what Foster can do to hurt us, and that is Yates’ lifeline.
3) We play our best football at home, by far.
4) We’re clearly the better team.
I just don’t see many scenarios in which they take this game from us. We’ve done too much to get to this point to let some upstart, happy-to-be-here team screw this up for us. They can lose next weekend and call their season a success. We can’t. We need this win like it’s water.
Ravens, 37-10.

Does that make me humble?

after you
picking out one thing in my post yesterday and twisting it, I find it funny you pull the same thing on some one else. that, my dear watson, is called hypocrisy.
and that is why many of us think you’re arrogant. you can say that you and most Ravens fans “respect” us all you want. but the fact of the matter is there is a subtle tinge of arrogance in everything the Ravens fans say, especially when it comes to the Texans. you can chalk it up to east coast arrogance, loyalty to a team, having better season/playoff records, etc.. or whatever you want, but it doesn’t change the fact that you’re still arrogant. if you deny that, you’re either blind, deaf, or dumb. you don’t see like a dumb person, so I’m banking on blind- or just blissfully ignorant.
and before you come back with the inevitable “Texans fans are arrogant” line (which is false) I say this- there is a difference between a fan base that has been waiting for a playoff game for almost 20 years and is possibly being blinded by having success (finally) and becoming a bit over confident than there is of a perpetually arrogant fan base who thinks they are entitled to everything based on the past successes of the team. for examples, see also patriots fans, cowboy fans, and, to a certain extent, steelers and packers fans.

you wrote a damn long post, and i responded to one small part of it. I could have responded to the whole thing—much of which was well presented and I didn’t necessarily disagree with—but I didn’t. I’m sorry.
As for me coming back with “texans fans are arrogant,” I don’t think myself or any Ravens fans have really been saying that at all. We’ve been saying that you guys are really sensitive to any argument we present about us feeling like we have a better team. To that point, I don’t think you’ve written me a response that didn’t sound incredibly angry.
I’m not sure what you can present to me that would support the idea that we’re “perpetually arrogant,” since usually we get pretty good reviews from our guests over at BB. We have a good discourse with a few Steelers fans who frequent the site, in addition to Bengals fans, 9ers fans from before Thanksgiving, and other opponents’ fans from over the course of the year.

Better team? Yes.
But not convincingly better. Some people have actually made arguments that the Ravens are better than the Texans with no doubt at all. That’s not necessarily true, though. The teams are actually pretty even. And to say one team is demonstratively better than the other isn’t true, in my opinion.
But there are actually a lot of really cool Ravens fans at the beatdown. I’ve enjoyed the conversations that have been had there(not all, but definitely 90%).

Ask Rivers, or better yet read his Footbaloutsiders preview, he knows more than I do.
Many a night I’ve spent this week trying to find the Rosetta Stone that tells us why Joe Flacco is so inconsistent. He makes a few killer throws every week, but his deep ball comes and goes. Out of his sixteen games this season, he has had a DVOA above 20% eight times, and he’s had a negative DVOA rating seven times. I had two working theories on Flacco’s diverse range of effectiveness: one was that perhaps, like some quarterbacks, he didn’t respond well under pressure. The other was that due to the importance of the deep play-action pass in Cam Cameron’s system, maybe his effectiveness depended solely on how often he hit those deep balls,
Turns out, neither of those things really matter. Flacco had four games where he was knocked down (via quarterback hit or sack) seven or more times. In three of them, including Week 6 against Houston, he posted a DVOA above 30%. How about the deep passes? While that correlated a little better, he had five passes of 20 or more yards against Arizona in Week 8 and wound up with a -12.2% DVOA for that game. Against the Texans in Week 6, he completed just two passes of that length, and wound up with a 37.6% DVOA, and against the 49ers in Week 12, he completed just one, yet had a 84.1% DVOA. Some players just won’t fit into a neat little box. Such is this year’s vintage of Flacco – we’re not sure if we’re getting a great quarterback or a below-average quarterback, but it’s definitely one of them.

Read that
That’s about as good of a description as I can think of for Flacco. he can definitely beat you, but he can definitely come out extremely flat.
But that’s why I think it’s silly for people to think he just plain sucks. There are times when he has and times when he most certainly has not.

I’m usually quick to point that out, but I’ve decided to stop bothering.
The whole “cool” demeanor is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, there’s times when the offense is stalling and you want to see him on the sideline screaming at people saying “LETS FUCKING GO ASSHOLES.”
On the other hand, the guy’s pulse was probably at a steady 70 bpm during the game-winning drive in Pittsburgh. I’ve never seen anything like it.
I love it knowing that there are a handful of Ravens fans in this area who despise the fact that Joe will be our QB for the next 10 years. --Mr. MaLoR
i would venture to say that
it wasn’t falcco who killed us through the air. he had what, 300 yards? 307 yards? 100 of those came off of 2 passing plays, both over 50 yards. really, it was our blown coverages that led to flacco “killing” us through the air.
oh and of ray rices 100+ yards on the ground, over half came on 3 rushes.
all 6 of those plays led to points by the Ravens. just saying bro.
it gives proof to anyone who is saying if the Texans don’t give up big plays they can have a good shot at winning.

big plays definitely change the course of the game
That’s why AJ is so big for you. I don’t think anybody expects Yates to just blow down the field for 1st down after 1st down, but obviously 1 or 2 long bombs to AJ are a distinct possibility and could greatly change the course of the game.
As for us in the last game, those big plays went our way and that had a lot to do with why we won.

I have watched week 6 several times (it's on NFLN right now) this week and...
Flacco killed us through the air.
Here's their first drive of the game.
R.Rice right guard to BLT 9 for 6 yards (B.Cushing, G.Quin).
J.Flacco pass short left to A.Boldin to BLT 23 for 14 yards (K.Jackson) [A.Smith].
J.Flacco pass short right to T.Smith pushed ob at BLT 37 for 14 yards (K.Jackson).
R.Rice right tackle to BLT 38 for 6 yards (B.Reed).
(Shotgun) J.Flacco pass short middle to R.Rice to HST 47 for 15 yards (D.Manning).
J.Flacco pass short right to A.Boldin to HST 34 for 13 yards (D.Manning).
(Shotgun) J.Flacco pass incomplete short middle to A.Boldin [C.Barwin].
R.Rice right tackle to HST 32 for 2 yards (T.Bulman).
(Shotgun) J.Flacco pass short middle to A.Boldin to HST 22 for 10 yards (J.Joseph) [C.Barwin].
(Shotgun) J.Flacco pass short right to R.Rice to HST 13 for 9 yards (G.Quin).
V.Leach right guard to HST 8 for 5 yards (G.Quin, D.Ryans).
J.Flacco pass short right to E.Dickson to HST 1 for 7 yards (D.Manning).
TD followed after Antonio Smith’s meltdown.
Good stuff mr. boyd

Joseph was destroyed by Boldin (JJ follows the #1, he covered Boldin all day).
It was Joseph’s worst game, by far. Some people say he was injured, but I didn’t see anything obvious (like limping).
We played two deep all day and got good pressure which is probably why Smith didn’t get behind Kareem more.

Everyone is gonna see it differently and have their own personal opinion, as the top 5 RBs are not set in stone and can be debated from one side or the other, but personally I would say
Foster
Peterson
Rice
Forte
MJD
I have Foster over Peterson because he has been the best RB the last 2 years, yes this year he didnt lead, but he also didnt play in 3 games, and missed the 2nd half of another.. if he plays in those 3.5 games he has the rushing title, n prolly the TD title, again, back to back. I got MJD over McCoy for #5 because MJD is his teams offense, and everyone stacks the box on him and he still produces.

that's a pretty good list
I feel like it’s kindof a wash—talent wise—between Rice and Foster but even if Foster is better I’m perfectly comfortable having a monster like Rice on our squad.

No reason for that last sentence
Foster is a better complete RB than Rice, that seems pretty clear to me.
Check out The Dream Shake.
I think we have had better line play and Vonta helped. This year with our stretch play and Vonta, Rice has improved on last year's averages.
Also, Foster fumbles a lot more. I was waiting for a Baltimorian to bring that up. lol
Foster fumbles more!
jk. But another thing to keep in mind is that Rice has only this year been the red zone back. Before that we gave it to Willis McGahee who had 12 TDs in 2009.
I love it knowing that there are a handful of Ravens fans in this area who despise the fact that Joe will be our QB for the next 10 years. --Mr. MaLoR
my theory on why foster has fumbled more this year
while probably incorrect, stems from the fact he lost schaub and has tried to carry the team on his back. he had the fumbling problem in college, but really hasn’t had it since then. and this year, he only started to lose the ball on a more frequent basis after schaub went down.
once schaub went down, arian probably figured he would have to carry the load, and instead of just running (which, in all honesty, he is a better pure runner with better vision and cutback speed than rice) he had to think too much. rather than focusing on running, he had to focus on how to pick up the most yards and to not give the ball away, which in turn led to him picking up fewer yards (only 150 less in 3.5 fewer games than rice I might add) and giving the ball away more.
just a simple theory of mine.

Good theory.
His near-fumble and false start Saturday fit that theory nicely, too.
I don't worry about it when
Ravens homers downplay Foster and pretend that Ray Rice is the greatest RB ever. Usually the same Ravens homers who are saying that also say that Joe Flacco will be as good or better than Aaron Rodgers. You should never pay attention to those kinds of people, they are a joke.

I don't know why people are still arguing
with the Ravens homers. It won’t do any good, a lot of them are wearing their homer glasses and are nearing a diabetic coma from kool aid consumption. How many facepalm moments can you stand before you just stop talking to them?
Disregard homers, acquire information.
That’s my motto for a jaunt to Baltimore Beatdown. I’ve learned a lot that will make this game even more interesting on Sunday.
I would say that Rice is a better receiver than Foster
but Foster is the overall better back, also I remember when we played the Ravens Rice complaining incessantly for a facemask against us to the refs, I saw the slow-mo replay & it was a clean hit & on the other side Foster got his facemask blatantly twisted by Lewis and the refs looked the other way, but Foster never went up to the refs to bitch & moan rather jogged off the field without saying a word, I’m not saying that the refs were biased in that game but….. the refs were definitely biased in that game
/AcientAliened
It's interesting to witness the contrast in the fan bases
The Ravens talk about how their team has been there four straight seasons. So, they are basically assuming, guaranteeing a win and they are looking forward to the next game, be it the Patriots or the Tebows. The Texans fans are contrarily voicing their excitement of being there but also, taking umbrage that their team seems to be getting dismissed as just a stepping stone.
I will say, there is no such thing as “deserveds” in the NFL Playoffs. There is such a thing as “earning.” Both teams have earned their way to this game on their own merits. There is no association of walking into that stadium on Sunday and automatically leaving with a win, for either team. The fanbases are one thing, but the teams on the field are another. Both of those teams are showing up to win this game. I feel both teams are going to battle all the way until there is no time left on the clock. There won’t be any complaining by either team afterward that the other team cheats or doesn’t deserve the win. It will be about the other team earning the win, whichever team that is.
While great fodder for discussion, because we are all fantasy football geeks, Rice vs. Foster is really an academic discussion. On Sunday, those two guys along with their 52 teammates and coaching staffs will do battle on the football field in the natural elements on national television. This will be a battle to remember, in my estimation. Both teams want it. Both teams have their stories. Both teams know they have history to write. Rice and Foster have their legacies to act out.
As a Texans fan, I know my team has earned their place to this game. I also know they can keep it going. There are so many players on this team that can rise to the occasion of this big game. I will be cheering loudly! They are a team. The Ravens are a team. This is going to be a battle!
Let’s do this!

The whole world is figuring this game as a tuneup for the Ravens. It’s part of why I have a good feeling about it. The rest comes from knowing just how good our team is, which the rest of the world is fixin’ to find out.

The guy had me crapping my pants yesterday.
Best of luck going forward gents.
I love it knowing that there are a handful of Ravens fans in this area who despise the fact that Joe will be our QB for the next 10 years. --Mr. MaLoR
Thank you
Ray Rice ain’t to bad either. See you next year

Keep in mind
Ray Rice was sharing backfield with McGahee for most of his career. Foster is a beast though there is no denying. The Texans offensive line is better though as well.
