In case anyone was wondering

“what the hell is a reserve-future contract?”

Players signed to "reserve/future" contracts means they are being signed for the 2012 season even though that season does not officially begin until March. Only players who were not on any NFL team’s active roster when the 2011 season ended are eligible for such signings; if they were under contract, then they remain so until March. Players who were on practice squads at the end of the season are eligible to sign with any team.

I would love a top tier receiver in the first/second:

Alshon Jeffery, Dwight Jones, Nick Toon, Kendall Wright

Followed up with T.Y. Hilton in the 3rd or 4th. Hilton has awesome speed, quality hands, and is a stupid awesome kick returner.

Jeffrey is fat, lazy, unmotivated, & has bust written all over him. Wright will be gone before we pick. I could see him going at #22 to the Browns

agree 100% about Jeffery

I would rather us take a back up punter in the first round then Jeffery. I think the best scenerio would be a trade down into the second round and pick up Dwight Jones or Marvin Mcnutt, and pick up another WR early in the 4th, possibly a Jeff Fuller or Brian Quick. We need 2 big young recievers to mold…

Boot Jacoby.... and go with Desean Jackson

I feel like Kubes has a crush on knucklehead WR/PR who mean well but eff up from time to time…. Jacoby has obviously hit his potential ceiling and unfortunately he will only get worst from here..

Desean Jackson however is a deep threat and has proven to be clutch in the return game.

Buckles seatbelt and starts up the lets get DeSean bandwagon

My 2011 AFC Divisional Round Prediction

TEXANS 26

Ravens 13

Flacco will have 2 costly turnovers
Ray Rice 20 carries for 78 yds 1 td

Rackers will have game of his life 4/4 FGs
One of those costly turnovers from Flacco will result in a Defensive Texans TD
Arian Foster 30 carries for 131 yds
Dreesen 4 catches 28 yds 1 td
Andre Johnson 8 catches 140 yds
T.J. Yates 18/31 205 yds 1 td 1 int

I don't recall Jackson really having problems with teammates prior to this year...

And I have to say….The Eagles organization really did do him dirty. I mean to expect every athlete to handle that situation like Ghandi is kinda unfair.

I can empathize with Desean somewhat because I’ve heard of ppl who had similar work experience when they found out they had far more responsibility than their colleagues, yet their colleagues were being paid far more than they were. It can have an affect on you.

But to bring in all of those FA’s and sign them to major contracts but not take care of the guy who saved their season.

The organization made him feel like they didn’t want him but they wanted to put on the line and not pay him his worth. I thought that was dirty. I believe the Desean situation is a little more nuanced than people want to acknowledge.

Jacoby Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

by DrinkSomethingBeech on Jan 19, 2012 3:15 PM CST up reply actions

Arian Foster disagrees

He led the league in rushing last year but did he complain one time about his contract situation this year? No. What he did is carry this team to it’s best season ever. He’ll get paid. Jackson won’t.

The guy is a diva, a headcase and a one-dimensional receiver. We already have one of those in Jacoby Jones, except Jones has actually shown a willingness and ability to block.

Jackson is a great deep threat and a terrifying punt returner, but to me that’s not worth the headaches and childishness.

if he can't block, it won't happen

I imagine Kubes cares about that more than deep threat ability.

My interpretation of how this offense works is that if we go after speed it needs to be someone who is good in space and can catch + run. Think of all the screens and quick passes where someone more elusive and directionally inclined than Jacoby could pick up extra yards. Walter is your (typically) sure-handed possession guy but isn’t really going to break free ever, and the rare deep shots are reserved more for Andre.

Hell, I think we ran about as many reverses with Jacoby as deep passes to him. That should tell you something.

Also, I see a lot of comments about getting a “deep threat to draw coverage away from AJ”. Two fast WR’s running streaks on opposite sides of the field isn’t the only schematic way to draw coverage away from Andre. If you have a guy that is dangerous with YAC on short to mid routes that can be just as effective in occupying a safety, in the same way that OD often has a LB covering him with a safety trailing.
