Jerome Solomon: If Manning's available, Texans should get to the front of the line
Does anybody else think that he might be going a bit too all out here? Yes, Peyton and Colts head honcho Irsay aren't on the best of terms, and no, Irsay cannot be thrilled about the upcoming bonus due Peyton, but does anyone really believe that he'll be leaving Indianapolis?
First of all, something that Solomon seems to have missed - Peyton's still under contract. A long, nightmarish albatross of a contract, considering his injury. Yes, he's one of the greatest to ever play the position, and yes, he has a history of being relatively injury free. And yet, this is a different kind of beast - a neck injury, and nobody wants to push that any farther than it'll go. He swears he'll be playing next year, but I don't think everyone's convinced of that.
And even bigger than his health, his owner. At this point in time, Peyton does not dictate where Peyton would go. Jim Irsay does - and do any of you believe for an instant that Irsay will green-light a trade that sends his biggest piece (and perhaps his only piece, save that draft pick) to a divisional rival, of all teams? That fact alone is enough, in my mind to dis-rail this crazy train, and hopefully it is enough to do so for all of you as well.
I won't deny that I would drool to see the name 'Manning' on the back of a Texans jersey, especially if he's healthy. But it's something that I don't see happening, and if it does, I fear that the price will be far too steep for us to easily accept.

This from a guy who had the worst case of Athlete's throat ever recorded after riding Brady & the Patriots the last time they played the Giants in the Super Bowl
He doesn’t even bother to consider how would the Texans would afford him. I think Solomon lost his credibility years ago, & this article was the nail in his own coffin

Let's do it! Our QB situation is shaky at best..

Solomon is a hack trying to grab a headline.
Think Skip Bayless if Tim Tebow suddenly ascended to heaven in bodily form.
If Houston “got in line” for Manning and somehow didn’t sign him, what message would it be sending to the rest of the organization about what they think of Schaub?
Smith and McNair might think about this option because strong management evaluates ALL of its options. But no way this happens. NO WAY.
"You mean, besides two chicks at the same time?"
Just wondering.
How the hell could we afford to pay him? Plus that neck thing is a massive turn off for me.
No thanks we have a good TEAM already. We don’t need to drop a massive contract on a guy who may just as soon retire in a few weeks.
Prediction: 11-5 AFC South champions.
I have for most of the season, haha.
But with that name, I’m not sure you can have it on too many of your jerseys, you know?

This is utterly ridiculous
Yes, Manning’s a better player than Schaub and Yates. But that’s beside the point.
The organization is as stable as it’s ever been; why introduce a HIGHLY unstable element like Manning when it would probably necessitate changing the offense, cutting valuable guys to make room, and leave you with a huge hole a QB within two years (Manning retired, no way Schaub would still be here, and Yates might want out as well)?
Think Brett Favre to the Vikings: short term upgrade, long term franchise suicide.

Yep. It's exactly the sort of high-roller, big splash deal the Texans do NOT make,
thank goodness.
Solomon is a troll. His position at the Comicle requires it, I suppose.

Rec'd for good measure.
I guess the line starts behind you, then.
