"Get me out of Carolina!" - Jeremy Brevard-US PRESSWIRE

After losing newly called-up David Hunter to a season-ending injury, the Houston Texans added former third-round draft pick Terrell McClain to the defensive line rotation.

The Houston Texans ended their bye week and got back to work on Monday morning. With defensive end David Hunter being put injured reserve and defensive tackle Lamar Divens being presumably released, the Texans had a spot on the 53-man roster and two more practice squad spots to fill out.

Joining the 53-man roster is defensive tackle Terrell McClain, who will play defensive end in Wade Phillips’ 3-4. McClain was selected by Carolina in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of the University of South Florida. During his rookie year, McClain started 12 games notching 19 tackles and a sack. He was cut after the end of the 2012 preseason. A few weeks later, New England signed him and waived him within a week.

Houston also added outside linebacker Keith Browner, Jr. and offensive tackle Nick Mondek to its practice squad. If those names sound familiar to you, you have a great memory. Browner was signed back in June after Houston’s three-day minicamp. The son of former NFLer Keith Browner is an undrafted rookie from the University of California. Mondek was a sixth round pick this past April from Purdue. The transitioning offensive tackle was known to be a project and showed himself to be plenty raw during the preseason. Neither man made the practice squad in September, but both now find themselves back in Houston.
