Kirk Cousins: Future Texans QB?

After watching the Redskins game, it is quite obvious RGIII is the franchise. That being said. I think his backup Kirk Cousins seems like a lock to be a future Texan for a few reasons:

1) He is under Shanahan's tutelage

Always a plus for Kubiak and R. Smith

2) He is like a Schaub clone

His scouting report from kkfl seems quite similiar:

Strengths

  • Tough, gritty competitor
  • Extremely efficient
  • Three-time team captain - well-respected leader
  • Accurate when in the pocket
  • Experience in a pro-style offense in a major conference
  • Improved yardage and touchdown figures each of the last three years
  • Generally makes sound decisions with the football
  • Looks off safeties on vertical routes

Weaknesses

  • Has a tendency to double-clutch the ball
  • Really breaks down under duress - most of his mistakes come in the face of pressure
  • Below-average passer on the move
  • Questionable footwork - needs to improve his technique
  • Very average arm
  • Thin build (6-foot-2 5/8, 214 pounds)

3) There is no rush, he can develop in Washington

This way, we can focus on other needs, and go for Cousins in the future. There is no need for him now, but as Schaub gets up there i.e. 34. It would be nice to have a young qb ready to go.

4) Same mold as Schaub

Backup to Starter

Plus, if he is anything like Schaub, then sacrificing a 1st round pick would mean nothing. Maybe we trade Ben Tate. The best part is time is on our side.
