The Kareem question
Just wanted to get every ones pulse on what you think about Kareem. We all agree that he was beyond bad in 2010 but he did show some improvement last season. But the big question is, is that good enough for him to retain the CB2 position going forward? Or should we give another guy on the depth chart more playing time? Or should we think about replacing him altogether by snagging some one adequate in FA or the draft? What do you guys think?

Interesting to see the results
And to think how far sentiments have changed in the course of one season. I can remember how everyone was ready to chase the guy out of town at this time last year. I am wondering whether this new love for Kareem is due to an actual improvement in the guy, or because we have a bigger common enemy by the name of Jacoby or because we are far distracted by the FA situation with Mario and Arian (and the others) that we are ready to let this go at this point.
Personally, I still think he's the weakest link in our secondary
I think a lot of the improvement he showed was due to a much more ferocious pass rush than he had the year before. While he did make a few nice plays, I just feel that the Kareem who was burned repeatedly by Lance Moore in the Saints game is closer to the real Kareem Jackson.
However, I do believe he should get a chance to compete for the CB2 position next year. I just don’t want it handed to him because of where he was drafted.

Still bad in coverage...
But he’s gone from “horrible” to “bad” in coverage, and “average” to “great” in run support. It was a year of steady improvement for him, and it even came off of a shorted training camp and such. One more off-season and I daresay he might become “average” in coverage.
He played at an average CB level against the Ravens
covering their WR1 in Boldin he was in position everytime and they pulled off multiple circus catches.

I would give him another chance
Along with the rest of our young corners. He did improve last year but still got beat a lot. We did see some flashes of competence though.
That said I wouldn’t be opposed to another veteran CB that hasn’t quite panned out yet who has the tools you expect from a quality CB. So I guess what I’m saying is find a Jason Allen doppelgänger and sign him for cheap to push Kareem and the young guys.

I will eat future crow
Because I am not a Jackson Apologist.
He only showed flashes of non suck because he was splitting time. getting the benefit not being match against quality competition, and having an improved pass rush.
His contract is too much to be a part bench player
True arrogance has been displayed here- WestministerRavensfan or something
Hi My name is Jack, why don't you help me off?
He's only making $2 million per year...
Oh, and in case anybody is interested, Spotrac seems to be a pretty good source for cap numbers.
I'd like a better CB2, but the chances of drafting one are slim and a better FA would likely cost too much.
Give him another year. If it looks like he’s topped out, it will be a real issue for next year.

This
I wish there was another option in the poll for “Eh, he’s not clearly doing anything but our choices kinda suck at the moment”
Our current crop of free agents and cap issues will keep us from spending on a FA to replace him, and no rookie is going to get the chance…so it’s basically Kareem or an unknown on our roster. Maybe Carmichael or Harris beat him out in preseason (which I would love) but I’m not counting on it.
If none of those guys step up this year then yeah we will probably have to address it next year, right now we have too many unknowns
