Texans Hire Karl Dorrell as QB Coach
Via the local fishwrap, we learn the former Kubiak co-worker (OH NOES! A DENVER CONNECTION!) joins the team after serving in the same role with the Miami Dolphins last season.

I don't understand this.
He used to coach WRs in Denver. Shouldn’t they be specialized?
I figured that if I said it enough, I would convince the world that I really was the greatest.

young coaches usually don't specialize at one position.
They tend to move around. Good coaches will spend time coaching several different positions. It’s also common for young coaches to switch from offense to defense. I know a guy who played WR at Kentucky and began as a graduate assistant coach on the Dline. You gotta know the whole game if you want to coach at a high level. Most coaches, however, do specialize in either the passing game or the running game. That’s why you see coaches who are more passing oriented bounce between WR’s and QB’s. Running oriented coaches can bounce around from Oline to TE’s and sometimes to RB’s. If you want to be a good coach, you’ve got to be able to coach multiple positions.

I think Baby Shanahan was a WR coach his first year in Houston.
And he did excellent work with Schaub once he became QB coach. I’m guessing there’s a lot of overlap between those two positions in terms of understanding the offense.
Knowing this key fact
I would like to apply for WR coach…..

No
But, now that I know there is a lot of overlap between QB coach and WR coach, I am dangerous.

Because they went 6-6 after going 10-2 2 years before

Fishwrap called me today
and asked me if I wanted to renew Sunday only subscription for $.50 a paper. I told the guy I pretty much just recycled it. I din’t see the “value” in getting it.
He said OK, and hung up.

Sad. Once upon a time there were 3 dailies in Houston and each one had a sports section worth reading.

Can't say I remember that one
Woulda been cool if she was the little sister that grew up into the hot slut that everyone wanted to bang. Instead her older brother, Chron, constantly bullied her and wrecked her self esteem. Nobody would talk to her so she killed herself.

Considering he made Matt Moore look pretty respectable
Can’t really say anything negative about the hire
