Oliver Wendell Holmes once said, "Insanity is often the logic of an accurate mind overtasked." I don't think Dr. Holmes was referring to the braintrusts of the Jets and/or Redskins, but if the shoe fits...
Consider:
1. The Washington Redskins agreed to send their next three (3!) first round picks, plus a second-round pick for good measure, to the St. Louis Rams for the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, which will presumably be used to select Robert Griffin III. If RGIII is truly a franchise QB, the price is right. If he's not every bit of a difference-maker on the next level, this trade has a chance to go down as one of the worst in league history.
2. Refusing to cede the conductor's seat on the crazy train, the Jets reportedly extended Mark Sanchez's contract by three years for an additional $58,250,000.00, which will result in Sanchez getting $27,000,000.00 guaranteed in the next two years. Unlike the Redskins-Rams trade, we don't need to let this one play out. That's an absolutely horrendous decision.
You now live in a world where Mark Sanchez is getting paid at least $27,000,000.00 for the next two years. To play quarterback. In the NFL. Discuss.
