Reliant Stadium To Begin Using Artificial Turf For All Non-Texans Games

Stay connected for news and updates

She just got the news that they'll be using artificial turf at Reliant.

"About time!" Texans fans exclaim. We've complained about excessive use and/or maintenance of the field surface at Reliant Stadium before in this space (e.g., here), so it's exciting to see that the people in charge of Reliant are finally doing something about it.

"We're trying to save the natural grass field for the NFL so it will stay in better condition, and we're trying to generate new revenue," Miller said. "We think new event revenue can recover the cost in very short order. Anything that is not the NFL, we will try to play it on the artificial turf if the schedule allows."

Better late than never, right?
