A Kid's Perspective: A Letter to the Texans

Well that was rough. I think we all know what happened last night. We got embarrassed during prime time, again. Matt Schaub sucked, again. The team we were playing didn't really have to earn anything, again. The Texans are plummeting faster than any version of the Texans I have ever seen. I think that we just are as good as our quarterback and our quarterback sucks. I am now proceeding to write a letter to the Texans organization telling them at least a start to cleaning up the mess that is the Houston Texans. We are plummeting to mediocrity and we need to stop it.

Dear Houston Texans,

I am writing this letter to explain what is happening in the struggles of this team, and what an average fan is thinking of his favorite organization right now. I think you guys know what is happening to your franchise quarterback. He sucks. Everything is in his head right now. He can't play under the lights. All of that good stuff is true. The thing that is the worst thing about Schaub is that he continues to make the same mistakes and you guys continue to let him make the same mistakes over and over again. It is obvious that the fans don't want Schaub anymore. If people care enough to make a fake trade to send him to the Browns, and then the Browns fans aren't happy about it, it is time to make a switch. It is sad that people are burning their Matt Schaub jerseys and then care enough to post it on a social media site. It is sad that I will be laughed at for wearing a Matt Schaub jersey to school. You heard me, my friends think it is funny that I am a fan of Matt Schaub because he is that bad. It is sad that when you are down 21-0 at halftime, a reporter has to come on air to explain that y'all are keeping Matt Schaub in the game. Here is my proposal to you, let's tank it the rest of this year, and go with T.J. Yates. I know you guys are saying Matt Schaub is the quarterback on this team that gives us the best chance to win. I think you guys are right too. The only problem is, Matt Schaub giving us the best chance to win leaves us mediocre. Why don't we suck for a year, and then make another run at it next year. I think if we left T.J. Yates in for the rest of this year, one of two things would happen, we would suck and not be able to score. The other thing that could happen is that we would have a spark and start winning games. Then let's say in the draft we pick up another quarterback. Now we would have 3 young quarterbacks on our roster, T.J. Yates, Case Keenum, and a good, young quarterback that we pick up in the draft. I would rather suck for two years and then go back to contention for awhile. My personal favorite quarterback out of the 3 is Case Keenum but I would except any of the three. This is what an average fan is looking at when breaking down the current situation. I think that it is what the fans want, and we would rather take a risk on a young quarterback that can move a little bit. I think we just want some fresh air and any change from Matt Schaub.

Sincerely,

An Average Texans Fan

Now let's look at a short version of what happened last night. We just looked nervous on prime time last night. Especially our quarterback. The game didn't get off to a very good start as Keyshawn Martin couldn't bring the return past the 20 yard line. Then after 2 running plays, our quarterback threw a pick six. I was thinking at that point, let's just get it out of the way. We can bounce back from this, go on a scoring drive and maybe get a touchdown even though we have been horrible in the red zone this year so far. We drove down the field, our quarterback making me nervous every time he threw the ball, and got Randy Bullock in a normal kickers field goal range. Not for Bullock. He missed it, barely, but still missed it. He is becoming at liability for the Texans, and a huge one. I think the Texans could have still been in the game if he would have made that field goal. Then we would have pinned the 49ers inside the 20 on the kickoff. That is 15 more yards they would have had to go instead of starting field position from the 35. They drove down the field and scored, and you just can't expect the defense to hold the opposition every drive. Then we got the ball back, and another pick. It was over by then, especially because they were inside our 40 yard line. No way I expect the defense to do anything. By then, it was 14-0 and over. It was obvious our quarterback was in his own head, and he was trying so hard not to make a mistake that he was doing the opposite. I watched until the 3rd quarter, and I just couldn't take the pain anymore. I have gotten my emotions under check now and am starting to realize that we just aren't going to be good this year unless a massive change happens. I really feel bad for the defense because they are suffering through this even though they aren't doing anything wrong. All I can say is, I hope that something changes, or I am just going to throw in the towel.
