NFL Flex Scheduling: Houston Texans-New England Patriots Game Time Changed

"They flexed us OUT of a desirable kickoff time? Why?" - Jared Wickerham

You know the season's not going as expected when what was supposed to be a titanic AFC clash in Week 13 between the Houston Texans and New England Patriots is getting relegated to a less desirable kickoff time. Read on for the details.

There aren't many things more depressing for a football fan than to see his team get flexed to a less desirable kickoff time by the NFL. When it comes to "depressing" and "football" in 2013, the Houston Texans fit the bill as well as anyone in the league. It should therefore come as little surprise that the Texans have been flexed out of a seemingly prime late afternoon 3:25 p.m. CST kickoff to their typical 12 p.m. CST start.

Adding insult to injury is that the game in question is the Week Thirteen clash between the Texans and New England Patriots at Reliant Stadium. Before the 2013 season started, that game was anticipated to be a key battle for playoff seeding in the AFC. Now? Now it'll feature the likely AFC East champions and a Houston Texans squad that's at best 4-7 and quite possibly 2-9. Huzzah!

The press release from the NFL reads:

The Week 13 New England Patriots-Houston Texans game will be played at 1:00 PM ET on CBS and the Denver Broncos-Kansas City Chiefs game will be played at 4:25 PM ET on CBS, the NFL announced today.

The New York Giants-Washington Redskins game on Sunday, December 1 is still tentatively scheduled for NBC’s Sunday Night Football. The final Week 13 schedule will be announced no later than Tuesday, November 19.

Adjust your calendars accordingly. And by that, I mean "remember to buy all your booze on Saturday, because you no longer have the luxury of waiting until after noon CST on Sunday to load up in advance of a 3:25 p.m. CST kickoff."
