Ben Tate ran for three TD's, Andre Johnson had another dominating performance, and Case Keenum almost drove the Houston Texans down the field for the winning score on Sunday. But everyone can exhale now. The ten-game losing streak is alive and well. And with Jacksonville pulling off its second straight win, the number one pick in the 2014 NFL Draft is only four games away from being ours.
Say what you will about the 2013 Houston Texans, but they are tanking in a way that still makes it fun to watch every game. I even thought for a moment there in the fourth quarter that they may beat the New England Patriots in football. Gary Kubiak using a timeout to discuss how to attack 4th and 13 was a stroke of pure genius, as it guaranteed that the inevitable blitz-sack-turnover on downs would effectively end the game. All we needed was a field goal to force overtime, but allowing Fat Randy Bullock to be put in a position to miss the game tying shot would have been too predictable.
The final three games of The Lost Season are at Indianapolis, Denver and at Tennessee. That leaves only one game that Houston really should win, and that is next Sunday this Thursday (thanks, Kidaster) at Jacksonville. It is going to be a sight to behold.
