More and more I am starting to think that the Texans are going to keep Gary Kubiak as the head coach and Rick Smith for at least one more year. Kevin Sumlin has signed his extension, Art Briles has signed his extension, and the Texans are talking about drafting a QB with their pick. Something I have found really odd is that John McClain (http://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/texans/article/Texans-house-cleaning-would-be-foolish-5032987.php?t=e346f26322f9985617) just a few weeks ago was calling for both Smith and Kubiak’s heads but today came out with an article today saying that they need to keep their jobs. That tells me he must know something that we don’t. I actually think that Bob McNair is going to let Kubiak and Smith stay for the final year of his contract and if the team doesn't make it to at least the AFC Championship then he might let them go.
If that happens they may take Bridgewater/Derek Carr/Jadaveon Clowney or they could trade back, and much to people’s chagrin, take Johnny Manziel or someone else. Kubiak is an Aggie (so is Johnny), he is supposed to be a QB guru (he can train him up), and there have been a lot of NFL scouts lately that have been saying that Manziel could save Kubiak’s job because he is a perfect fit in his system. I might just be reading too much into all of this but I could actually see all of this playing out. I’m not sure how I feel about all of this yet and if the Texans lose out it might not even happen. If the Texans win out the next 4 games that just might be enough to save Kubiak’s job. I think that they can beat the Jaguars on Thursday night and I also think that they could beat the Titans. With the way that the Colts are playing right now we could even possibly beat them. If the Chiefs keep losing, by the time we play them, Denver might be resting Manning and co. which would actually give us a chance to win.

I’m not really sure how I would feel about all of this but I could see it happening. Through the years you could always see that McNair and Kubiak have a special relationship. When he went 6-10 a few years ago, a ton of people called for Kubiak’s job. What did McNair do? He gave him an extension. Not sure this would go well with the fans but I really don’t think McNair cares as long as he is selling tickets and they show improvement I think he will keep him around. What are your thoughts?
