Former Cincinnati Bengals star and NFL all of Famer Anthony Munoz has been full of praise for the Houston Texans, and has stated that the franchise have the ability to make it to the Super Bowl in the upcoming season. Munoz has been in Houston for his NFL Play 60 Character Camp, and feels that Gary Kubiak's men are a team on the up.
The Texans have been looking to progress over the last number of seasons, and have seen their odds to reach a Super Bowl with Betfair.com drop. After falling short over the last couple of campaigns, Munoz thinks that the upcoming season the Texans have a chance.
“I think they’re moving in the right direction,” Munoz said.
“I think they’re on their way and they have an excellent chance. They’re as good as anybody, with the talent they have, not only offensively but defensively.
“I think Matt Schaub is an excellent quarterback. He is the guy that can take them to that next level.”
Along with Schaub, Munoz singled out Duane Brown for particular praise, and feels that the talented offensive tackle could help the Texans reach their goals in the upcoming campaign.
“Prior to meeting him, I had heard the name but I hadn’t really watched him a lot,” Munoz, who met Brown last August, said.
“Of course after I meet somebody, I’m going to watch them. And I’m impressed. He’s pretty good.
“He’s going full speed every play. I love a guy with a motor that goes one speed all the time, and that’s top speed.”
High praise indeed for the Texans from the first ever Bengals player to be inducted to the Hall of Fame, and a man that is considered as one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL's history.
If the Texans can show some consistency and the ability to deal with pressure when the business end of the season comes around, Munoz's words could be proved as true.
