Houston Texans Injuries: David Quessenberry And Brennan Williams Have Surgery

Here's to a speedy recovery. - USA TODAY Sports

One of those should not be a surprise to Texans fans. The other qualifies as a shocker, especially now that we know what kind of injury he had.

From Deepi Sidhu of the team's official site, we learn that Texans rookies David Quessenberry and Brennan Williams had surgery on Wednesday.

Quessenberry going under the knife is no real surprise given the news that he broke his foot earlier this week.

But Brennan Williams? Well, we knew he got hurt back on May 11th, which sidelined him until training camp. Williams then started training camp on the PUP List and missed most of camp before playing in the Texans' preseason finale in Arlington. Williams was placed on injured reserve when the Texans whittled the roster down to 53. There were reports of his knee swelling after the final preseason game, and he hadn't gotten a lot of reps due to being hobbled, so that move made sense.

What we didn't know, however, was the extent of Brennan Williams' injury. And it doesn't sound good:

Brennan Williams, a North Carolina third-round pick, suffered a microfracture in his knee. Williams was dealing with a knee injury he suffered on May 11, the second day of rookie minicamp. Williams did return near the end of camp, but suffered swelling again after the game at Dallas. Kubiak mentioned that the latest injury looked "more extensive" than the previous one.

Fans of Houston sports are somewhat familiar with microfractures, aren't we?
