Romeo Crennel Interviewing For Houston Texans Defensive Coordinator Position Today

The Texans' new defensive coordinator? - Jamie Squire

The former head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns is in Houston talking to Bill O'Brien about the Texans' vacancy at defensive coordinator. Are Texans fans excited about that?

Saw it first from Mark Berman:

The interview could very well be a formality, as word over the weekend was that Bill O'Brien planned on naming Romeo Crennel to be his defensive coordinator. Crennel, of course, would replace Wade Phillips, beloved former suite holder at Reliant Stadium. That is, if Crennel does decide to come to Houston, which Ian Rapoport says is not the only employment opportunity for Crennel:

For all the talk about the purported Patriots connection between O'Brien and Crennel, Crennel hasn't worked for New England since 2004, and O'Brien didn't join Bill Belichick's staff until 2007. I know some are bullish on the idea of Crennel succeeding Wade Phillips; I'm not one of those people, especially with so many other candidates out there (Ray Horton, for example). I'd love to see O'Brien interview more than just one guy for the gig; admittedly, that may have happened and we simply don't know it.

What say you? Are you fired up about the idea of Romeo Crennel calling the shots for the defense of your Houston Texans?
