Some scouts are lukewarm on this year's QB class. They all have a few warts that are keeping them out of the top spots on most big boards. From what I have seen, Jadaveon Clowney, Jake Matthews, and Greg Robinson are all rated higher than the QB's on almost all big boards. Even Watkins, Mack and Barr are rated higher on many lists. So here's the question:
Would you be in favor of bringing back Schaub for one more year and drafting his replacement this year and having them compete for the starting QB spot? Or draft a late round QB this year and hope he beats out Schaub and then target a first rd QB next year?
The last time the Texans were in this situation was in 2006. Kubiak kept David Carr the first season and then brought in Schaub after the season. They went heavy on defense and Oline in the 2006 draft, drafting Mario and Demeco with the first two picks, and Winston and Spencer with the next two. Could this be a possible strategy this year? The free agent QB's that are available are no better than Schaub, and in my opinion, there is no QB that could be drafted in the 3rd round or later that would be ready to play wk 1.
What do you think the odds of Schaub actually coming back next year are?
