First...does a 'franchise' quarterback (7 years w/ 4+ 11 win seasons) exist in this draft...I say no.
Second...can we repair the problems of the last year (or 3) with the #1 pick...I say no.
Third...how many franchises/GMs/Owners/Fans are hopelessly desperate to solidify and rally their fan bases around 'potential' stars... I say at least 4 of the top 7.
The best possible scenario is, as of 02/20/14, for draftees to hold the greatest show of athleticism in the history of the NFL combine.
JAX, CLE, OAK, MIN (4 of the top 8) need QBs to light their fire.
With an ownership of solidified character and a new HC with Belichek-ian lineage, the Texans can manipulate all takers with only the ignorant and naive to call their bluff... Who will assume that all are on the same page, or the GM/Owners are not fishing, or the HC is being stubborn over any given draft pick? Everything is in play.
Take the top 50 draft picks from 2014 and 2015; the Texans should get AT LEAST 3 and have a pseudo-franchise QB solely from what takes place on May 9th through the 11th.
This perspective brought to you by the realization that, in the last 20 years, only ONE team has ever gone from #1 to #32 in a span of 3 years...the 1997 Rams who drafted OT Orlando Pace.
