It's been mentioned that Buffalo may want to trade us to get one of the tackles, Mack, or Clowney. This would command their first, second, and third round picks and a first or second next year. I would be all for this because I believe in the depth of this draft and it got me thinking of an interesting scenario.
BOB mentioned that we would be in the Nickel 70% of the time. We currently have no nickel corner (unless you somehow trust Brandon Harris to do anything) and even playing the nickel, corners notoriously struggle their first year. I don't really trust late round corners to contribute right away plus we need a safety valve if (when) JoJo gets hurt. Also because of the 70% nickel means a lower need for a huge NT (roll with Powe) and a greater need for a tweener DT/DE. I propose a trade down that looks like this:
1.9 - Justin Gilbert CB
2.1 - Ra'shede Hageman DT/DE
2.9 - Morgan Moses OT
3.1 - Attaochu/Marcus Smith OLB
3.9 - Garapolo/McCarron QB
4.1 - Sims/Seastruck RB
4.35 - Coleman/McCullers NT
5.1 - SS
6.1 - Slot WR/KR
6.5 - K (With the new XP rules I can't deal with Bullock)
6.35/7.1/7.41 - TE, RB/KR, ILB
I would really like this and there's the possibility that 2.1 could be highly valued and could net us an extra 3rd to move down. I know that we wouldn't get one of the "Elite" prospects but it's a dang good haul.
