Mr. Clowney is now a Texan, and while he wasn't my first choice, he's certainly not a bad consolation prize. Had we not drafted this guy, he's someone that you'd always wonder about. Now we actually get to see for ourselves how pairing this "once in a generation talent" with the the fellow that just had the best DL performance in league history pans out. Hard not to get excited about that.
So, now, what to do with the rest of this 2014 Draft?? Here's my particular preference, but we'll see how it all develops soon enough.
2.1 - Trade to SF for 2.24 and 2.29. We get the better end of the trade value chart on this deal, but we should hold out to the highest bidder, and SF needs a WR and Marquis Lee is available at 2.1, but won't be for much longer than that. Besides, I would think SF would be looking to trade up and target specific players since they have so many high picks.
2.24 - QB - Garopollo - I know many on here don't like him, but he has some nice tools to work with.
2.29 - DE - Hageman - We still need a real 3/4 DE, and this guy is it.
3.1 - G - Gabe Jackson - Plug and play at LG. Williams, Quesenberry, and Newton fight it out for RT.
4.1 - LB - C. Jones - Can play inside (and even cover on 3rd down if Cushing gets hurt again) or outside.
4.35 - NT - McCullers - Houston finally lands its monster NT.
5.1 - TE - Gillmore - a big blocking TE that showed he has hands too.
6.1 - CR - Purifoy - Compete for nickel.
6.4 - LB - Zumwalt - OLB depth with Reed moving inside.
6.35 - S - Ballentine - not sure if this guy can play or not, but he's big and fast, and we need some of that on the back end.
7.1 and 7.42- RB and WR I have no idea who they take here??
Whatever happens, I just hope we don't trade down to acquire more 6th round draft choices. Can't wait to see the new Texans.
