Keep Calm and Put Down the Bleach

My thoughts after re-watching the first defensive and offensive series. If you back off of the hyperbole and general mob freak-out it really doesn't seem as bad as it seems. It appears that O'Brien put some folks in and let them make or break themselves. I expect to see a lot of churn and depth chart changes throughout camp.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is not going to be the answer. That needs to be addressed early and is the most concerning thing to me. Brandon Harris made his case for being cut. I really think O'Brien was letting folks play and make their own case for staying or being cut. Brandon Harris and Trevardo Williams made the case that they don't need to be here any more.

This was not a preseason game for the coaching staff to test out their scheme. This was a live audition for the players. A of them failed. Overall, I think it will get better before the regular season starts.

1. J.J. Watt looked good.
2. Jadeveon Clowney looked good.
3. Jerrel Powe looked decent.
4. Brooks read was okay.
5. Brandon Harris is not good.
6. Trevardo Williams is not good.

Clowney in coverage needs work.

ILB are not good on lateral route recognition (Williams).

Brandon Harris is seemingly late and always recovering in coverage.

Pressure is there, lots of quick passes, slants and screens it appears.

Brandon Harris is terrible.

1. Grimes looks good.
2. Fitzpatrick is inaccurate.
3. Derek Newton was not a liability.

Garret Graham got beat on first offensive play.

Ryan Fitzpatrick was high and right on first throw to Graham.

Offensive line play is really not bad.

Lack of separation on routes by all of the receivers, but lots of short routes and reads.

Only two different formations it seems in the first series.
